Saying Goodbye to SCRAP OUR STASH (& my DT Favs!)

Monday, June 30, 2014

This is one of the harder posts for me to do, to say goodbye to a group of women that I
have never met, but some to know very well...one of the wonders of this hobby called
scrapbooking, paired with social media.  I have enjoyed my year at Scrap Our Stash immensely
and wanted to share a few of my favorite layouts, which are some of my all time favorites as well.
Yes, they were fun challenges, but they did challenge me in creative ways and more importantly
was able to see all the amazing challenge entries from scrapbook artists all over the world!

Saying Goodbye to Kreative Koncepts/Scrap Friends (& my DT favs!)

Sunday, June 29, 2014

This was the last month for my term as a design team member at Kreative Koncepts
(called Scrap Friends when I began.)  I wanted to share a few of my favorite from my term.
I had a wonderful time and really challenged myself with several mediums I wasn't comfortable with...

beauty - Scrapbook Circle Lifting You June 2014

Tuesday, June 24, 2014

The sketch that was assigned to me to Scrap Lift for my Scrapbook Circle June assignment
was an awesome layout by Chelsea.  You can see the original post on the Scrapbook Circle
website HERE that shows her layout I lifted.  I stuck to it pretty closely because I loved it so much.
I used the main June kit 'Hello There' and the Add-on 'Take Note.'

I love this paper from Basic Grey, but the colors are pretty powerful.  I used a layer of gesso on
the background pattern and then followed her cues in using the size and number of photos.
I used lots of the die cuts from Basic Grey as well to create a cluster under my photos.

I used one of the Heidi Swapp watercolor tags and colored it with Distress Inks.
I also layered some rub-ons and ink splatters like Chelsea's LO.

Be sure to share your pages with us on the Scrapbook Circle Facebook
page and we could 'lift' one of your creations!!  Thanks for stopping by!

Weather the STORM & Goodbye to Scrap Our Stash - June 'This or That' Challenge

Monday, June 23, 2014

Sadly, this is my last challenge as a DT member at Scrap Our Stash, so I wanted it to be special. I decided to focus on the idea of time passing so quickly! These photos are of a rainy day craft project from last summer.

This is the sketch which you can see on the original Scrap Our Stash Challenge post HERE:

Check out the SOS Rules and guidelines as they team up with
Child's Play Challenges for their Tie Dye Inspiration Challenge!

I tried to fade distress inks together with a roller stamp to mimic the vertical pieces in the sketch.  I used a good bit of water to bring the colors down the page.  For the stash part of the challenge, I used a combination of rub-on sequins, real sequins and enamel dots to embellish.

For the stash part of the challenge, I used a combination of rub-on sequins, real sequins
and enamel dots to embellish.  It isn't too late to enter and the prize if from Freckled Fawn!!

I am planning to do a post with a few of my favorite projects from the past year.
Look for it towards the end of the month!

I also want to thank all the amazingly talented DT for being so much fun to work with,
and especially to Brenda and Rochelle for being such great leaders, inspirations
and friends to me!  I'll miss you guys!

Simple Cards - Pinkfresh Studio June 2014

Sunday, June 22, 2014

I needed to make a graduation card and had this word stamp picked out...
The phrase made me think of being positive & arrows pointing up!  I used the color block triangles
instead of arrows since they fit perfectly into the shape of my embossing folder.

Finally, I recently bought some distress markers and wanted to play with them.  I heat embossed
a few doilies onto the card to color and the glossy embossing made me choose the enamel heart stickers.
I love the way it turned out and it is a great generic card to have on hand!

Thanks for stopping by the blog today!  Hope you become inspired by the fabulous
colors and shapes in the Pinkfresh products!  Have an amazing day!

THE PLAN - Pinkfresh Inspiration - June 2014

Saturday, June 21, 2014

Another LO from the Pinkfresh Reveal this month was inspired by the little enamel house shaped sticker.
My husband actually posted this photo of my daughter's doll house creations to
Instagram and I immediately thought about using it with the little house.

The colors of the enamel and the matching colors of the color block veneers helped me
pick the papers and embellishments.  That neon blue color is very close to the Color Shine
Teal which I used to mist over the hexagon mask on top of the patterned paper.
I then layered it onto the the gold hexagon vellum!

I used the Pinkfresh Orchid/Gold foil Alphas and some of the wood veneer arrows for the title.

More Pinkfresh tomorrow!  Have a great Saturday!

@ TWO - Pinkfresh Inspiration - June 2014

Friday, June 20, 2014

I had a new post to the Pinkfresh Studio Blog yesterday and I wanted to share on of the layout from the post.  These projects were inspired by either the color or the shape of Pinkfresh Studio products!

This first LO was inspired by the beautiful mint/pink ombre washi tape.
One is wide and perfect for what I had planned.  I layered it onto plain cardstock
and ran it thru my Big Shot cutting lots of hearts.  I loved the washi and the colors so much
I didn't want them to get lost.  So I decided to use it with black to really make it pop!

I sewed the hearts to my page and used the mint/gold foil alphas for my title.
I added a couple other accents with color block wood veneer and an retro brad to help add a bit of yellow!

Stop by the Pinkfresh Studio Blog for my original post and lots of fabulous inspiration!
So many new fun products coming out soon!

schools out for summer - Scrapbook Circle Challenge

Thursday, June 19, 2014

Hi everyone!  I wanted to share my layout for the Scrapbook Circle Challenge #77 -
Hot Stuff using the June kit "Hello There" and the Digicuts that are part of the main kit.
Inspired by the Highline "Sweetness" patterned paper & summer!
The challenge is to create a layout that features warm colors - red, orange, yellow (and anything in between).

You can see the original post on the Scrapbook Circle Blog HERE.

I loved the colors in this months kit.  A great palette for summer, but not different with the orange and hot pinks!
I used a photo from a couple years ago of my kids with new shades we had just bought!
They thought they were super hot! :)

I used the herringbone wood grain patterned paper to really make the other colors pop!
I layered several of the printables with the Scrapbook Circle exclusive wood veneers
and the Simple Stories fabric stickers and stitched them to my page.

After cutting out the digicut on my Silhouette I watercolored it to match
the orange & pinks and then divided it between the photo mat.

The exclusive stamp included in the June kit will be getting a lot of use in the future;
the hashtags and heart are super cute!

Thanks for stopping by and make sure to check out the Challenge!
Share it on the Scrapbook Circle Facebook page or the blog by July 2nd to be eligible for the prize!
Have a great day!

Fabulous Spring & Goodbye - My LAST Kreative Koncepts Challenge

Monday, June 16, 2014

This is my last Challenge and post for Kreative Koncepts, as a DT member anyway. :(

With all the greens in this challenge, I had to do LO about Spring!  I usually use a black and white
photos for the color challenges, but with these colors, I had to show the vibrant colors in our yard!

This are the colors for this Challenge.  You can see the original post and other DT takes HERE.

Despite a cooler Spring and more pollen than usual, it seems, we have had a beautiful garden
and our grass seems to get more lush and green every year.  With all of our renovations complete, for the most part, we can now concentrate on the yard!  Or scrapping it, for me ;)

I used some Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Citron watered down to create a watery background.
I layered some really old rub-ons from 7 Gypsies, a stamp using gelatos and some India Ink too.

I layered several papers in a vertical line and sprinkled around some brads and
die cuts I gathered in all the colors from the challenge.

Sadly, my term as DT member for Kreative Koncept (ScrapFriends) will end at the end of June.
I have enjoyed being on this team and working with these amazing artists, and they are artists, not just
scrapbookers.  I feel honored and a little humbled to have been able to be included with this group of talent.

A special thank you to our DT Coordinator, Zeneva Kovic, who created such fabulous
sketches and challenges for the team, motivating me especially to try new things!
Thank you Annette for the opportunity to be part of your team and I wish you luck in the future!
Thanks for stopping by and have an amazing day!!

ANIMAL KINGDOM - Scrapbook Circle June Sketch Reveal

Saturday, June 14, 2014

Yesterday was the June Sketch Reveal at Scrapbook Circle!
This is my take on the Challenge using the Main kit 'Hello There' and the 'Take Note' Add-on...
an attempt to continue documenting our trip to Disney last year.

This is the sketch from Diana Fisher, you can see the original post and the other DT takes on the Challenge HERE.

This is a photo from the safari boat of the Animal Kingdom...it was such a beautiful day and one of our favorite places at Disney.  I used the PenPal banner alphas from Pink Paislee for my title and stitched it to the page.

I used lots of the acetate frames & tags from Basic Grey (part of the Add-on) to layer under my photo and
used the exclusive Scrapbook Circle stamp '#amazing' on one of the stickers for the top left corner.

There are lots of fabulous pieces on the new June kit - Hello There.  Check it out!

Happy News!

Friday, June 13, 2014

I am thrilled to begin a new chapter in my scrapbook of design...Ok, that was cheesy,
but I am super excited to be joining the DT at Come On Get Crafty starting in July!

If you haven't checked out the COGC Blog then do so!

It is a small business owned by someone just like me & most likely you!  A mom!
Fabulous products in the store and the Design Team is truly an awesome collaboration of some amazing artists with a unique way to showcase awesome products.

I'll be back towards the end of July with my first posts!
Happy weekend!

You + Me - Scrapbook Circle DT Choice June

Thursday, June 12, 2014

This is my DT Choice for Scrapbook Circle using the new June kit 'Hello There.'
Actually the focus of this layout is the Heidi Swapp Watercolor Heart Tags that are from the June Add-on 'Take Note.'  These are my favorite part of this kit and honestly one of my favorite new products out this year!

This is a photo from our honeymoon in Santorini just over 13 years ago.  It feels like a lifetime ago and
not that long at all simultaneously!  I think that is part of having children and getting older though.
These hearts were perfect for this photo and I tried to arrange them almost like a title.

Once I had an idea of how they would sit on the paper, I mixed some watercolor to match my background paper, except several shades darker.  I gradually added more water the closer to the bottom heart to fade it out.

I used several digicuts that were part of the kit and misted them gold. I used ll the negative hearts
from the cuts some of the Chickaniddy enamel hearts.  I rarely use all of one product
on a page because I am too much of a conservationist, or well, let's be honest, a hoarder.
But, I think the impact all the hearts have together is worth it and 13 years calls for a little celebration! :)

Thanks for checking it out!  Stop by the Scrapbook Circle Blog to see my original post
and the 'Idea Gallery' for the other ways the DT gals used this awesome product!
Happy Thursday!!

LUCKY 13. - Scrap Our Stash June Stash Challenge!!

Sunday, June 8, 2014

This is my LO for the new June Challenge from Scrap Our Stash.
It is a Monochromatic Challenge, to use only one color and different tones of that color.
You can use white, black and kraft as well...plus you have to include 5 premade embellishments.

You can read all the details about the challenge rules on the original post HERE.

Obviously, I chose GOLD!  I couldn't resist...any chance I can get to add it to my projects, I do...
And to be challenged to add as much as possible, whoa!  Glitter and mist all over the room!

This photo is a selfie from my 13th anniversary night...or the night we celebrated on anyway!
Shawn kept calling it LUCKY 13, instead of Unlucky.

As far as the Stash part, I used lots more than 5 pre-made embellishments:

I misted 2 pieces of wood veneers with color shine, 2 gold word stickers from Maggie Holmes, a gold doily, 3 pieces of various gold chipboard, a gold banner die cut, mini clothespin, glitter arrow sticker, gold foil vellum leaves and gold embossing paste over a stencil on the background!  Whew!

This is such a fun idea to me, because I am still loving the ombre trend and plan to
use this idea more often!  Check out the rest of the DT layouts on the blog HERE.
There are so many awesome ideas and a great LO from the Guest Designer too!
And the prize is a gift card from Freckled Fawn!
Thanks for stopping by!  Have an amazing day!

fly On - Kreative Koncepts June DT Reveal

Sunday, June 1, 2014

Today is the reveal of the June Kreative Koncepts Sketch Challenge and the DT reveal.
This was a hard sketch for me to decide what to do with.

This is the sketch below and you can find the original post at Kreative Koncepts HERE.

I have been listening to the new Coldplay CD, appropriately named Ghosts.  It is rather haunting
and addictive.  The last song is my favorite and I wrote the lyrics on a piece of white cardstock,
washing it with gesso and some distress paint and watercolors.

I also stamps a few stamps and stenciled a layer of embossing paste of tiny stars.
One reason I love the song is that I love birds, especially cardinals!  Clearly.
My husband bought me this little red glass bird for our anniversary a few weeks ago.
And I photographed it in front of one of my Dad's old cameras.

I wanted the lyrics to look like they were peeking out behind this piece of patterned paper.
My Dad died 10 years ago on the 4th and so this is a little homage to him.  Every time I see a
cardinal I think of him watching over us, watching his grandchildren growing up...

Sappy, yes, and not my favorite LO by any means.
It was extremely therapeutic, which is one reason I love scrapbooking.
I hope you all will check out the other DT projects using this sketch, they are pretty amazing!
Also, it would be great to participate in the challenge and share your work with us!

Happy June and have a wonderful day!
