yay! - Come On Get Crafty June sketch

Friday, June 26, 2015

Hi everyone!  The June Sketch for Come On Get Crafty was featured last week on the Blog and this is my take on it.  It is a little more chaotic than I planned but I was trying to use as many manufacturers as possible! ;)

Here is the sketch below...I made it a 12x12 since that is the size I mostly scrap.

I sprayed some mists on a sheet of acetate and smushed it on my white cardstock to add some color to the background...not that I ended up needing it, but I went with it!

I made a cluster using pieces of Crate Paper, BasicGrey, American Crafts, Pink Paislee, Elle's Studio, Bella Blvd. and Freckled Fawn!  How is that for lots of different products??

I love that journaling card from Crate Paper and I thought it looked good with the black and white pic!  And that is it!

Thanks for stopping by and check out the Come On Get Crafty Blog for the other DT members layouts using the June sketch!

Have an awesome weekend!

Summer Shaker Card - Come On Get Crafty & BasicGrey

Friday, June 19, 2015

Hi there my crafty friends!
I am sharing a shaker card I made for the Come On Get Crafty Blog using the newest Basic Grey 'Aurora' & 'Adrift' collections.
I love all the shaker cards that are popular now and the interaction that they provide!  After sorting through all the Basic Grey die cuts and acrylic pieces, I came up with an idea for a boat and ocean themed card.

I used some tinted modeling paste on the card base for the water and then added lots of the fish and shells die cuts.  I placed the acrylic boat on top and added various sequins from my stash.  I watercolored a border using Distress Inks and traditional watercolors and added the acrylic sentiment, 'Welcome Aboard.'

It turned out to be a perfect card for a surprise cruise a friend just went on!
Thanks for stopping by the blog today!
Have an amazing day!

explore - Scrapbook Circle June 2015

Wednesday, June 17, 2015

Hello there!
Today I am sharing my layout inspired by the June ‘Have a Little Fun Today’ kit as well as the ‘List Keeper’ & ‘You Are Here’ Add-ons.  It is also on the Scrapbook Circle Blog today as my Designer's Choice layout.
I have been waiting for the Scrapbook Circle summer kit that might be geared towards vacation and traveling and perfect to work on our Universal Studios album!

This Pink Pasislee silver foil vellum, with repeating airplanes is one of favorite papers in the last year.  I thought it looked great against this dark navy blueprint background paper.
I used ink, gelatos and watercolors to add some teal to the background paper and tie some of the die cuts into the color scheme.

The vellum on top of the navy patterned paper was enough of a neutral background to use several of the Pink Paislee vellum die cuts and let that color stand out.
The Scrapbook Circle exclusive acrylic word ‘explore’ was the perfect addition to the colors and theme of the page.

I grouped several of the tags from Pink Paislee together with a plain tag and tied them with a twine clasp salvaged from a clothing tag.

This could end up being the first page in my album from this trip, even though it was 3 months ago.  Thanks so much for stopping by the Blog today!
Hope you have an amazing day!!

Fly Away Art Journal - The Crafter's Workshop June

Friday, June 12, 2015

Hi there stencil lovers!!
I shared an Art Journal layout for my post on The Crafter's Workshop Blog last week, inspired by all the butterfly stencils and a lyric from the amazing James Morrison.  I am new to Art Journaling as we know it now, but have always kept a journal or sketch book within hands reach.

Below are the stencils I used on my project!
Fly Away Art Journal Stencils
I started with several different mists on my pages and misted them heavily with water let them blend naturally and give a watercolor effect.

I used the 6x6 Mini Believe Script stencil and some dark brown mist on a neutral wood grain paper.

I hand cut circles in varying sizes out of the misted paper and arranged them across the pages.

I used an ink blending tool and black ink with the 'Chlorophyll' stencil to "bookmark" the edges.

Using matte medium, I adhered the stenciled circles and to seal both pages with an even coat.

One of my favorite new stencils is the 'Mini Butterfly Collage.'  I used it to add an iridescent modeling cream over the tea stain like circles.  Using washi tape to mask of the butterfly in the center of the larger circle, I added them around all the patterned paper.

I also used some tiny wood alpha stamps to stamp out my song lyric in a wavy pattern around the spread, ending the phrase with a larger, bolder font.

Using a plain white modeling paste, I added different sized butterflies and dragonflies to each circle using both the 'Whimsy Garden' and the 'Butterfly Collage' stencil again.  Once the modeling paste was dry, I painted them with watercolors and gelatos.  Originally I was fairly loose and let the paint drip and puddle, but later went back and cleaned them up a bit.

Then I just doodled and played with markers and paint pens in curvy winding lines around the words and circles.  The black and white reminds me of 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' by Tim Burton.

Finally, I added more doodling and markers around the butterflies and misted the title using the 'Fly Away' stencil in the bottom right corner.

The last thing I did was to drop some ink splatters across both pages.

in the SWING of THINGS - Everyday.Life.Documented. Come On Get Crafty June

Tuesday, June 9, 2015

Hi there crafters!
I am shared my Everyday Life layout yesterday on the Come On Get Crafty Blog and first off, have to give credit to my husband for the photos!
These are a couple Instagram pics her took while pushing my son on the swing.

Taking cues from the photos and the greenish tint to them, I out together a collection of products from to create my page.  I used almost all new products except for the small band of teal patterned paper at the bottom that is an older collection from Crate Paper.  I love all the blues and teals in the new Basic Grey collections and combined them with some of the new Elle's Studio Bits in softer colors including the soft yellow to contrast.

I used the Pinkfresh Studio gold rub-ons on top of the speech bubble sticker between the photos.
I used dimensional adhesive under the photo on the right so I could layer the chipboard frame and flair under it.  The font of the Basic Grey Aurora chipboard alphas is one of my all time favorites!!

This used to be a serious everyday activity, but has lessened since our children are growing up.
After my son broke his leg, this was a way for him to do something outside besides watch us!  I think it made a perfect Everyday. Life. Documented. page and may sadly, be the last of its kind!

Thanks for stopping by the Blog today and have an amazing week!

Scrapbook Circle / Cut Shoppe BLOG HOP!

Monday, June 8, 2015

Hey everyone!
This week we are teaming up with The Cut Shoppe to bring you loads of inspiration using our June 'Have a Little Fun' Kit plus our favorite cut files from The Cut Shoppe.

Hop along with the Scrapbook Circle team and comment as you go. We will be selecting a winner from all of the blog hop comments to receive $20 to The Cut Shoppe Hop. Be sure to stop by The Cut Shoppe blog and hop along to see what their team created with the Scrapbook Circle June kit. Comment on The Cut Shoppe hop and you are entered to win one of our June Kits!

I used a combination of 2 cut files from The Cut Shoppe, the 'Hello, Let's Chat' file and the 'Flocked & Feathered' cut file.  As well as the main kit, I used the 'List Keeper' Add-on and the 'You Are Here' Add-on kits.

I chose to cut the speech bubble file from patterned paper and back the open hearts with another patterned paper and some of the Scrapbook Circle exclusive printed kraft sticker.  I also superimposed the bird and the 'My Peeps' phrase into the speech bubbles in the Silhouette software.  I sized the Hello, Let's Chat file to fit around the bird so it would be large enough but still leaving room for my photo.

I layered some other embellishments on top of the cut file and used lots stitching to add texture.  I misted the little bird that came from the negative space of the cut file and added it to the bottom.  I love birds, so I had to use it!

Hope you find loads of inspiration as you blog hop at Scrapbook Circle and then over at The Cut Shoppe too!  Now get to hopping!

FOURTEEN - Scrapbook Circle June Sketch

Friday, June 5, 2015

Hello everyone...I am sharing the my take on the Scrapbook Circle June Sketch today.
Even thought all the other projects I made with the June 'Have a Little Fun Today' kit mostly
use primary colors, this one included all the pastels and softer colors in the kit.

I might have used more of the brightly colored papers and embellishments, but the colors
of the roses dictate the color palette.  The Scrapbook Circle Sketch is below and you can
find it original post on the Blog HERE.

There are so many fabulous embellishments included in the June main kit and Add-ons,
but more than that, they are the perfect accent pieces to add at the end of a layout to
bring another splash of color or tag or tiny phrase sticker.

Most of my layout these days tend to focus around one photo, but I love using several
pictures to tell the story...love this sketch for that!  I distressed the edges of all the patterned
papers I used for photo mats and then brushed the edge with silver acrylic paint.
It is pretty subtle but I think it helps tie in the silver foil die cuts and Thickers.

Make sure you check out the other DT projects and participate in the sketch challenge by
uploading your take on the original Blog Post, or tagging it on the Scrapbook Circle Facebook page.

CRACKED Journey - Scrapbook Circle June One Item Wonder

Tuesday, June 2, 2015

Hi everyone!  SO hard to believe it is June already, time is seriously flying.
Except for when you have a cast...or a kid with a cast!

One of my assignments at Scrapbook Circle this month was to use the exclusive Scrapbook Circle flair included in
the 'Have a Little Fun Today' June kit.  I also used the 'List Keeper' and 'You Are Here' Add-ons.  There are so
many great pieces in the June kit and add-ons that all my pages are pretty embellishment heavy.

Sifting thru the SBC flair and embellishments I thought the starburst piece would be great on one
of the little camera diecuts, like a flash.  I used the other two to make a visual triangle and help
draw your eye around the photos since there is so much going on with the layout.

I made a cluster under each of the flair, including one of the Scrapbook Circle printable tags for my subtitle.
I also used one of the die cut background files from The Cut Shoppe and layered patterned paper underneath.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out the beginning of a busy month of projects!  You can see the original
post on the Scrapbook Circle Blog as well as DT member Jennifer's use of the flair!  She such creative ideas!

Have an amazing day!
