'happy AUTUMN' Card for Tonic Studios

Friday, October 26, 2018

Hello!!  I am so excited today to share my first Tonic Studios USA Design Team project!

I loved this whimsical tree metal die from Tonic Studios and decided to use that as my inspiration for a Fall card.  Starting in October, I have an overwhelming need to use glitter paper and glittery embellishments, from Halloween through Valentines!  So, I grabbed this taupe-ish glitter paper.

Tonic Studios provided me with some product to create this project.  The opinions I share are solely my own.

You can click on the video below o see my process or HERE to go directly to my YouTube Channel.

I had originally planned to to use the die cut and have the glitter paper as the shadowed paper behind the face of the card.  I began by watercoloring a light wash of warm colors on some watercolor paper.  After cutting the face out of that paper, I decided it might be interesting to use the glitter paper as an inlay instead.

After cutting the same piece of glitter cardstock with this Dot & Drop Die from Tonic Studios, I decided to inlay the pieces.  I used several of the new Nuvo Vintage Drops in the places that the die embosses for them.  It is perfect for a newbie to these drops like I am.  The new Vintage Drops are all matte and are in the loveliest  soft colors.

I finished the card off by using some off the Nuvo Embossing Powder in Copper Blush, along with the Nuvo Embossing Ink Pad, to heat emboss a sentiment on vellum.  I added it under the tree panel that I mounted onto a layer of brown cardstock and then the heavy card base.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you check out the video and subscribe for new content and inspiration!  A complete list of linked supplies from Tonic Studios is listed below.

KIND HEART - Scrapbook Layout *& video*

Friday, August 31, 2018

Hello and happy Friyay!!
I have been slowly cleaning out my craft room and sorting thru the previously printed photos I had planned to document.  As well, as a stack of my favorite products I had been hoarding.

You can either click HERE to go to my YouTube Channel or click below to watch the process video I filmed.

I downloaded a cut file from Paige Evans that I had planned to paint behind or back with patterned paper, but in the end, decided to use as a stencil with some Gold Modeling Paste.  I used it to create a loose grid of four squares, one for the stenciled die cut, one for the photo, journaling and another for some embellishments.

I used several of the palm leaf die cuts layered on top of some tags and other ephemera tied up with gold thread.  I used an old gift card and gold gesso to "paint" some loose lines for my journaling.

Before I added my journaling, I used some Distress Inks and brushed on the coordinating adjacent colors to make the area a little more subtle.  After everything was finished, I mounted the entire page onto a light grey cardstock paper border and added some loose machine stitching at the top and bottom.

The color combination of this layout, mostly inspired by the paper makes me so happy!  It just screams Spring & Summer to me.  Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you check out the video and get inspired to pull out the stash of products you're hoarding...yep, you know you are!  ;)

sunshine & HAPPINESS - Scrapbook Circle/JUST NICK Team UP

Friday, March 31, 2017

Happy last day of March everyone!  This month we teamed up with ‘Just Nick Studio’ for a week of inspiration featuring the digital cut files combined with the March kit “Happy Place.”  I was very excited to be a participant in this collaboration! You can check out the digital files I used and others clicking below.
Scrapbook Circle team up

The majority of my photos are Instagram pics, so I gravitate towards square format cut files and graphics.  I chose these two, frame in frame cut files and one for a title.  I die cut the frames out of patterned papers in navy and green.  I die cut my title out of watercolor paper, knowing I wanted to paint something matching the sunrise.

With the idea of painting the title and the divisions of the Instagram photo I created in a Pic App, I painted loose stripes of watercolors across the white cardstock.  I layered the die cut pieces over the paint stripes and added stickers, washi and embellishments from the kit, color blocking down the page.

I can’t seem to get enough of this technique lately.  I love the variety in hue and the layering that shows the different and contrasting tones of color.  I tried to step down the colors and shapes from top left to bottom right, ending with the title, appropriate for a sunrise!

Thank so much for stopping by the Blog today!
Have an amazing day!
