Confetti Couture - Scrapbook Circle

Happy Halloween everyone!  And in honor of that, I have a LO that has nothing to do with Halloween! ;)

I am up on the Scrapbook Circle Blog today with this layout for Challenge #63 Confetti Couture.

The October kit - 'So Happy Together' is full of several pieces from Alison Kreft for Webster's Pages,

including a piece of this confetti paper and the matching baggie...There are other confetti hints in the

printables, sequins, sequin rub-ons and more!  I took it one step farther and punched out lots of 

confetti dots from the cardstock Add-On.  I combined it with the rub-ons, sequins and

punched out pieces from these die-cut cards from Dear Lizzy.

I wanted to use as much of confetti theme as possible without having to take away from the photo!

The photo was taken on my husband's 40th birthday which was sadly anti-climactic, due to our 

never ending renovation...grrrr.  But we made the most of it with just the 4 of us.

I tucked the journaling in to the little confetti bag and a couple other bits & pieces.

It may be the end of October, but you have until November 6th to participate in the Challenge!

POP. - Scrapbook Circle Sketch Challenge

I participated in the Scrapbook Circle Challenge on the blog and this was the page I came up with!

It was for the Sketch Challenge, sketch by Diana Fisher and as usual it was an awesome one to work with!

I just so happened to have these 3 pics of Sofia trying to blow bubbles with her bubble gum...

Here is the Sketch:

After a year of wearing braces, she wants to chew gum as much as possible :)

And finally, accomplished yet another right of passage by learning how to blow bubbles.

I thought it would be fun to use the confetti paper, polka dots and sequins all to reinforce the theme.

And I punched some random circles in the cardstock to show the kraft paper behind it too.

I bought some india ink I wanted to experiment with and do some bold title work...

I'm not crazy about the way it turned out but it a serious rookie move, I didn't even try it on 

anything else before attacked this piece of paper!  I thought the black and chartreuse would 

look great together and really pop this black & white photo!  Most everything from the 

Glitz Finnley collection except a couple older stamps and the Color Wash tag from Pink Paislee.

 I also attempted to make a little paper rose, I guess I WAS feeling adventurous!

 This was taken on my birthday drinking a lovely skinny latte...mmmmm...coffee...

SO SILLY - Elle's Studio Sketch Thursday

 I haven't really gotten to play with the new Penelope collection from Elle's Studio much...

And I just got a new camera, yay!  So, I played with all my new goodies today :)

I loved all the kraft and colors in this collection as well as a couple pieces from 

some of the Monthly kits, they seemed to be perfect for fall colors. 

As usual, during a photo shoot, the kids are more interested in the funny, silly, goofy pictures 

than anything that might make Mommy excited about a potential Christmas card pic!

So, this is dedicated to the silliness...I love these giggly monkeys!

hello TRUE happiness - Scrap Our Stash October Sketch Challenge!

This is my take on the newest Sketch Challenge at Scrap Our Stash!

Here is the Sketch to use for the Challenge and the Stash part is to use mists, paint, watercolors or gelatos!

I don't do many layouts these days without some sort of painting , so this was an easy challenge for me! 

The new Dear Lizzy Polka Dot Party and Amy Tangerine's Cut & Paste collections inspired the colors.  

I love that they work so well together too!

 I used a combination of Distress Stain & modeling paste with a stencil for the vertical background of the sketch. 

I also used gelatos in several shades of blue, green and white on this heart stamp from Dear Lizzy.

I colored right on the stamp with the gelatos, layering the colors to get a variety of shades and then misted the

stamp lightly before using it. Paints and mists are such a great tool to customize your supplies to match anything!

I decided to leave the title pieces cut from my Cameo in plain white cardstock so I could 

make the rest of the paint and stenciling the focus!  Thanks for stopping by and check out the

BLUE, but HAPPY - My Mind's Eye October Sketch Challenge

I love My Mind's Eye and I love sketches...this sketch is by Ronda Palazzari, a favorite inspiration of mine!

So, this was one of those pages that came together on its own!  I used pieces from The Sweetest Thing, Follow Your Heart & the Find Your Wings and Fly collections.  As usual, different collections, but regardless work great together...one of my favorite things about

My Mind's Eye.  The base colors of their papers and patterns have a commonality that works 

with all other MME products.

My Minds's Eye October Sketch Challenge

We planted quite a few Morning Glory seeds in several places in our garden in the late Spring and they 

came up right away...and after they got going, they grew pretty fast.  Some of the ones in a pot didn't

make it, but the ones Sam planted next to the swing set really took off after finding something to grab

a hold of.  They were supposed to be blue but we had no idea because we went for weeks, months

even with no blooms...we joked about how they were such morning flowers, 

we completely missed the bud, bloom, everything.  But there was nothing.  

I did use a background stamp from Jillibean Soup that is the honeycomb pattern because it went 

with the theme and the 6x6 paper I used as well.  The layered stickers were great but I wanted to use 

them for my title so I pulled off the letters and replaces them with the dark grey alphas to spell out 'BLUE.'

Right about the time we were giving up...isn't that the way the best things in life work?...

the blooms started showing up, and they were ALL day blooms, not just in the morning and they

were EVERYWHERE!  They pretty much took over the playhouse part of the swing set.

Shawn cut them out of the adjacent tree and the kept right on climbing.  

I am sure they will seed themselves and we will have years of morning glories.

Just proving, all good things come to those who wait, no matter the wait.

A great lesson for our children, and ourselves for that matter!

This is my layout for the monthly feature at Scrapbook Circle called Be Real using the October Kit – ‘So Happy Together.’  Funny title, considering the topic of my page!

I don’t do project life but do enjoy documenting our everyday activities, most of which these days are 

about school, school activities and the dreaded word…HOMEWORK!  In fact, our school has just 

changed the name of that task (is that allowed?) to “Daily Practice,” since the word “Homework”

invokes negative feelings.   Hence, the daily grind…

I just had to use this piece of ledger paper from Amy Tangerine for American Crafts for part of my background.  I thought it would be funny to crumple it up and punch the top with a notebook edge.

I layered pieces of the Pink Paislee Color Wash tags, the Dear Lizzy die-cut cards and some 

of the exclusive Scrapbook Circle wood veneers along the right side.  

I actually cut up the largest wood veneer to be able to use it all over the page.  

I didn't include any journaling in this page since I felt the banner on the right said it all!

I thought maybe documenting these days would help looking back in about 6 years, 

when things are really tougher.  I just don't know who they will be tougher on!! ;)
