I knew without a doubt my favorite piece of this kit is this gold glitter card stock!

When I think of Christmas decorations, I think golds, silvers, metallics, reds & lots of sparkle and shine!
Gold glitter paper, is there anything better to be included in a Christmas kit??  I don't think so!
It is a beloved, cherished and hoarded piece in my craft room and brings all that love into a page!
I do think it is powerful that it is better used in smaller amounts, making it all the more precious...

(to quote Gollum: "my preciousssssss")

I love Christmas and I love decorating for it, bringing out new decorations that were just bought or carefully unwrapping a few hand-me-downs from special friends and family.  It is a tradition that I appreciate more with each passing year and want to always share with my husband and children.  This layout was to document the last year that this artificial (super disco cool) white tree was in our home.  

We recently renovated and so we will not have the place for that tree anymore.  We will have it in the den where it is cozier and near the fireplace and stockings, etc.  I do love that tree though.  It fit our 1950's mod style house perfectly.  Both my husband and I never grew up with a real Christmas tree, always artificial...
I know we were deprived...so we decided that we wanted to have that tradition with our children every year.

I wanted use this photo from last year with the white tree and wanted to use the gold glitter paper with it.

I used a Silhouette cut out of a random triangle background which I turned over, to look like a tree shape.

I cut that background out of this green Elle's Studio paper and then backed it with the gold paper.

Where there is a little gold...there should be more!  I cut out a couple of the Scrapbook Circle digital cut

files that are included in the kit and embossed them with gold wood grain.

I framed the photo with a cluster of pattered paper from Allison Kreft, some Elle's Studio tags,
a couple other embellishments from Fancy Pants and Glitz...using the gold letter stickers for my title:

#no more faking it!

ME.RRY 2012 - My Mind's Eye Sketch Challenge

I have had these Instax pics on my board since they were taken last December.

When I saw Ronda Palazzari's Sketch from My Mind's Eye, I immediately knew that I needed to use them for this!  I thought this sketch would be perfect, a frame within a frame kind of look.

I am one of those people that really needs to finish one holiday and celebration without getting into the 

next one...it seems harder and harder to that these days.  It doesn't mean I won't think about the upcoming

holiday and prepare, I just need to have Halloween before talking Turkey (even if I don't eat it).

And I need to get Thanksgiving finished before breaking out the Christmas decorations...

It can be the next day!  Just not before...I will however scrapbook Christmas ANY time of year!

I made a giant Polaroid frame for my son's Christmas party and all the kids picked

either Santa hats or reindeer antlers to have their picture taken holding it.

They were so cute and had such a ball, I took it up to my daughter's 3rd grade class...

The frame got passed around to almost every other 3rd grade class too!

In fact, by the time we got home, the frame was beat up and I couldn't take anymore...

My Mind's Eye always makes wonderful Christmas collection...most of these are from

this years Vintage Christmas collection and some of the Mistletoe Magic.

Christmas paper + red glitter = Yes, Please!!

ME & YOU together - Scrapbook Circle DT Choice

This is the 2nd DT Choice page I created with the November ‘Home Sweet Home’ kit

and ‘My Happy Place’ Add-On from Scrapbook Circle. 

This layout is a complete contrast to my last DT Choice Post page all about “Making It Manly.”  

I had written that a sign of a well put together kit is in the diversity of products,

allowing you to create masculine, feminine and neutral pages.  So, this is my opposite

side of the manly spectrum…super girly!

I was inspired mostly because of these photos I took of my daughter and her best

friend being silly.  The aqua sweatshirt my daughter is wearing made me pull in colors

from the softer side of the papers in the kit and in the embellishments from both the

main kit and add-on kit.

Every time I use my Silhouette Cameo, I cut out some basics that I keep in

a bowl for adding layers or customizing with paint or mist.  I watercolored the

leaves to matching some of the colors in the other stickers and ephemera.

I made a paper rose out of craft and dipped the tips of the petals in copper glitter.

I loved the copper and the peach together.  Very girly!

I used lots of the Allison Kreft and Fancy Pants embellishments and used

the Scrapbook Circle exclusive flair and tags for my title and journaling.

I have one more LO from the November kit to share later this week and then

it is on to December!!  SO many exciting things to see...make sure to come back!

FREE SPIRIT - ADMIT ONE...Scrap Our Stash Challenge # With Stuck Sketches

 Scrap Our Stash's November Sketch with Stash Challenge!

For this sketch Scrap Our Stash teamed up with STUCK?! Sketches! 

The Challenge is to use this sketch below and use any type of wood...paper, stamps, veneers, etc.

This is a great basic sketch that can be manipulated by rotating it and changing it up in lots of ways.

I kept to the sketch pretty close, lots of layers using two photos, but of the same image.

This was from the beginning of our beach trip that was rained out for the first few days.

There was lots of time for indoor activities and playing the guitar was a popular one for my daughter.

After the sun came out, I'm not sure she picked it up again, but it was a nice distraction while

watching the stormy waves from inside!

I used two different wood grain papers and lots of veneers.

I even stamped my feathers, cut with my Silhouette, using wood grain pattern after painting them.

After taking Wilna's Art Class 2 from Two Peas in a Bucket, I knew I wanted to try something 

different with modeling paste and this piece of paper from Maggie Holmes' mini album.

I made it a lot more complicated and took the long way, but that is typical me.

I made a process video, which I shortened a LOT,

I couldn't wait to use this die cut from Tanya Batrak that I cut using my Silhouette.

I was also inspired to make a little glitter/sequin pocket

after seeing Elizabeth Kartchner's video last week, also on 2P's. 

I used modeling paste and "piped" (if you want to call it that) it onto the border of this framed paper.

Then I painted over it on metallic gold enamel paint...

I don't know if I will ever get tired of the gold trend...and it works so well with these photos

I took a couple weeks ago at the peak of the beautiful fall leaves in our yard.

No journaling, just wanted to document this lovely photo of my daughter who growing up entirely too fast!
