Stitched Background - September 2018

Hello!  Before we get into too any fall colors and layouts, I had to use a few more bright colors for this late summer photo.  Thank you for letting me share this fun layout with you on this day!

I used a lovely Silhouette cut from Paige Evans, specifically made to be used as a pattern for hand stitching.  

 I also cut out this floral-leaf cut from Ashley Horton/Silhouette from a lightweight lb. watercolor paper.  I painted several layers on watercolors onto the floral cut file and then layered it under this black and white photo.  I also stacked several stickers, die cuts and other gold embellishments around the photo.

I layered this background stitched piece and photo cluster onto another piece of pink polka dot paper.  This was fun, easy page to create.  The pink and green embroidery thread I used makes this stitching look so much more dynamic with the thread pattern alone.

SEASIDE 2018

Hello & Happy August!  I can't believe school is about to start back!  Before it does I wanted to squeeze in a couple more layouts from the summer.

Today, I am sharing this page using almost exclusively pieces of the "Pick-Me-Up" collection from Paige Evans & Pink Paislee and one of Paige's cut files on Silhouette.

I loved the ombre patterned paper and painted a similar piece of cardstock using watercolors.  

I cut out some of the little t-shirts from another piece of patterned paper inspired by the little clothes pins!  Backing small photos to make them look like Polaroids, I added stickers, washi and some of the small foam Thickers.

I also used another cut file of this globe and a gold sequin for the beach, although it's so small, it looks like I marked the entire South East U.S.! ;)

FRESH EGGS - The Crafter's Workshop June 2018

Today I'm going to share a fun scrapbook layout I created inspired by the Rustic Signs stencil from The Crafter's Workshop, and the perfect timing of some awesome friends!

Below are the two stencils and the Clear Modeling Paste I used in my project.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project.  The opinions I share are solely my own.

I pulled lots of natural elements to use; kraft cardstock, cork, canvas ribbon letters and cream colored cardstocks.

Utilizing the large 'FARMHOUSE' text in the stencil, I brushed light layers of Distress Ink over the cream cardstock background, offsetting the text on every line.

I wanted to try to match the color of the ceramic egg crate to the color I used with the main title.  I mixed a couple of shades of blue acrylic with the Clear Modeling Paste. 

It was a difficult color blue to match and once I archived it, the Clear Modeling Paste was perfect to get the height and texture without diluting the color.

While the modeling paste dried, I used the 'Antique Linen' Distress Ink and a stencil brush to add some light color to the wood grain part of the 'Hard Textures' stencil.

After layering the two stenciled pieces of cardstock, I added the kraft cardstock for my title as the photo mat.  Below is the finished page and some details shots.

I added a subtitle with these canvas printed letters on ribbon and stitched them to the page.

Finishing off the page with some other embellishments, I mounted the entire background to another piece of patterned paper.

#CUZLUV - Paige Evan's Collection - Pick Me Up!

Hi!  I am sharing a layout I created today using the new Pink Paislee collection from Paige Evans, ‘Pick Me Up.’  I won the ENTIRE collection from a GiveAway Paige had on Facebook.  And I mean, ALL the goodies; Thickers, stickers, washi, papers, stamps, rub-ons and on & on.

This is the first project I used with my haul, and the first layout I made just for me, for fun, not for a team project in such a long time.  It was so nice and easy to be inspired with the colors, patterns and embellishments.

I used an Instax photo I printed of my daughter and youngest niece that I printed in black & white.  I started stacking papers and die cuts to create a very colorful cluster to contrast the black & white of the photo.

Using the diagonal pattern from the 6x6 paper as a guide, I added some machine stitching across the background cardstock.  There are also some super cute embellishments, like sequins that have adhesive, making it so easy to add them!

I finished up the layout with a small embellishment cluster at the top right corner.  I also mounted the entire background piece onto a piece of navy patterned paper and added some gold splatters!

HAPPY. NSD Sketch & Video - Scrapbook Circle

I am a little later than I had planned to share this LO after NSD, but life with children seems extra crazy this time of year.  Everyone seems to try to squeeze in one last...everything.  I did this page for National Scrapbook Day and made a video of my process using the Scrapbook Circle May kit, 'Here & Now.'

I decided to use the paint like lines in this gorgeous paper from the Fancy Free collection to create an implied division, like the sketch.  I cut out a piece of the Pinkfresh Studio paper that is predominantly black and white and watercolored several of the leaves and flowers.  I used it along that line of pattern change shown in the sketch.

 

I layered lots of the Fancy Free vellum die cuts, other Pink Pailsee die cuts and fussy cut pieces of the Amy Tan acrylic sheet underneath a photo cluster.

 

Using black thread, I stitched thru that entire layered line of embellishments.  I also stitched across some of the vellum letter shapes for my title.  I cut two pieces of patterned paper and places them at the bottom the layout exactly like the sketch.  One piece I painted with black chalkboard paint and then added some journaling with a white gel pen.

 

I love all the bright colors in the May collection and they were perfect to highlight this photo of our oldest child, Lola!  I hope you check out the video and have an amazing day!
