SEASIDE 2018

Hello & Happy August!  I can't believe school is about to start back!  Before it does I wanted to squeeze in a couple more layouts from the summer.

Today, I am sharing this page using almost exclusively pieces of the "Pick-Me-Up" collection from Paige Evans & Pink Paislee and one of Paige's cut files on Silhouette.

I loved the ombre patterned paper and painted a similar piece of cardstock using watercolors.  

I cut out some of the little t-shirts from another piece of patterned paper inspired by the little clothes pins!  Backing small photos to make them look like Polaroids, I added stickers, washi and some of the small foam Thickers.

I also used another cut file of this globe and a gold sequin for the beach, although it's so small, it looks like I marked the entire South East U.S.! ;)

The Crafter's Workshop September 2017 - Scrapping with Scraps!

Today I wanted to share a scrapbook layout I created using actual scraps for The Crafter's Workshop.  I seem to collect a stack of strips cut from various papers next to my paper trimmer.  I would normally throw them into the recycling bin, but decided instead to put them to use!

I used the two stencils below as well as the white, gold and two blues in the Heavy Body Acrylic paint and the White Modeling Paste.

 I gathered all the scraps, as you can see, they are mostly pieces cut from 12×12 pieces of cardstock.  I planned to scrap this photo of my daughter and our new puppy, named Blue, so I decided to create some patterned strips in varying colors of blue.I lined up several strips of the paper and added tape to one side keeping them in place, while I stenciled the paint onto them.I mixed together the blues and white paint to create several different shades and added Modeling Paste to give it a little more structure.I started applying the paint mixtures to the taped strips of cardstock.After the paint had all dried, I picked a few pieces to line up on the page.  I also used the leftover paint and cleaned my brush onto a couple strips to add a solid block of color.I can’t seem to create anything without using one of the gold media products these days.  So, I painted a stripe of the gold acrylic and a little more to the solid strips.I added machine stitching to the top of the painted strips of paper.Adding a few embellishments and a little description under the photo finished up my layout.

HASHTAG - Scrapbook Circle December Kit

Ok. so I am a little late sharing this!

This was a page I created just for me, using the Scrapbook Circle December kit, "Everyday Stories." 

Even though this kit was from two moths ago, it has lots of colors and patterns perfect for early Spring!

I started seeing this 'pineapple' quote all over my daughter's school stuff, Instagram accounts and Pinterest.

I didn't really appreciate the pineapple trend until I read it, which I think is a perfect mantra for young girls today.

I basically just created my favorite type of page, a black and white photo, (my daughter's first Selfie)

a heavily layered paper cluster as a photo mat, and some ink and embellishments!  

The leatherette splattered alphas from Pinkfresh Studio help tie in all the pastel colors I used.

It is a fairly dimensional layout, but I plan to put it into a Scrapbook shadow box frame..

loOkiNg uP - The Crafter's Workshop January

Hello there crafty friends!  Hope you are all having a Happy New Year!  Today I wanted to share with you a scrapbook layout I created using for The Crafter's Workshop a couple weeks ago.The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project.  The opinions I share are solely my own.

                                        

With the Fall season past and Winter in full swing, lots of my photos seem to have a theme behind them…looking up!  These are a few of my favorite ones from November.  The colors were so powerful and vibrant, I thought it was perfect for the reality of our recent gloomy days.Using the colors in the photos, and the graphic nature of them, I thought it would be interesting to create a simple organized page with three stripes of color, using watercolors.  I used the Clear Gesso first onto plain white cardstock and let it dry completely.  Then I used liquid watercolor, diluted a bit, to paint on the stripes.  The liquid watercolor is great because it is reliably even, and I wanted consistency.After waiting another few minutes to let the paint dry, I mixed 3 tiny batches of paste in the same colors, using the liquid watercolor to tint the Thick Modeling Paste.  I chose a fairly loose, organic stencil to contrast the more rigid lines of the photos and stripes.Starting at the top of the gessoed area and the top of the stencil, I added the blue modeling paste over the blue watercolor.  I very carefully cleaned off the stencil in between colors, not wanting any transfer.  I am normally too impatient to complete this step, but it really does make a difference.After the blue was mostly dry, I repeated the same steps, using the yellow, then red.  I skipped down the stencil a bit, so it doesn’t read like the complete stencil pattern, just more of a pattern of texture and shapes.After letting all the paste dry, I adhered my photos, embellishments and title.

best ever - Scrapbook Circle 1 Product 2 Ways

Hello my friends!  I have been sitting in the sleet rain and "snow" of the Winter Storm Helena, which didn't amount to much, writing blog posts  This one, part of the 1 Product 2 Ways post has been a total ray of sunshine.    Along with DT member Allie, I used the Jillibean Soup Label Stickers from the December ‘Everyday Stories‘ kit to create a colorful layout. 

I wanted to use the stickers, almost as a banner description, for each of the photos.  I printed several photos, throughout the day, from my son’s birthday last year.  I added a square piece of patterned paper being each photo as well as a vellum ‘banner’ that I placed the sticker onto.

  I wanted to create a fairly light page, keeping the focus on the Jillibean script stickers.  I added a couple other color coordinating stickers around each photo and used the exclusive SC acrylic words for my title…’best ever.’

SEEING RED - The Crafter's Workshop July 2016

Hi there friends!  Today, I am sharing summer on a page from an earlier post on The Crafter's Workshop!  Or at least, what lots of our summer Sundays look like.  I used 3 stencils, two 6×6 and a 12×12 version of one of the smaller ones.  I also made a process video you can find below!

I wanted to document the Instagram photos my husband took of his tomato salad prep, step-by-step.  I thought this organized grid shaped stencil would be perfect for what I had in mind.

I used my Silhouette to cut a frame out of a 12×12 piece of cardstock with 9 squares cut out of it.  Using a couple scrap pieces of the negative cardstock and green tinted molding paste, I stenciled a few leaves.

I used a variety of Distress Ink, spray mists and molding pastes to create different patterns with that grid stencil, utilizing both the 12×12 and the smaller 6×6 in the same pattern.

I added the molding paste leaves and a couple stamps I punched out to add interest and dimension.  I also added some alpha stickers into the center square for my title.

I thought the repeated shapes in the stencil went well with the elements in the salad and complimented the photos without taking away from the vibrant pictures.

Here is the final layout.  I added stitching in both a straight stitch and zigzag pattern randomly around the page.  I added a couple geometric cork pieces, a date stamp and description to finish it off!
