Llama Love Valentine Cards & VIDEO - Tonic Studios

Wednesday, January 23, 2019

Hello friends!
Today, I am sharing two similar Valentine cards I made for Tonic Studios.  I used several of the mediums to create two backgrounds, both in different tones of pinks and a Llama stamp & die set I picked up.

You can click on the video below to watch, or click HERE to go directly to my YouTube channel.

Tonic Studios provided me with some of the products used, but the ideas are completely my own.

I started by stamping out the llamas onto Neenah Classic Crest paper using the black Nuvo Hybrid Ink that is perfect for using with the Nuvo alcohol makers.  While the ink dried completely, I worked on the backgrounds.  I had a square card base already cut and folded in a dove grey color, so I used watercolor paper in the same size.

One one background piece, using lots of water and two of the Nuvo Shimmer Powders, I created a pale wash of pink paint.  On the other background piece I used one of the blending brushes to add a light background color of the Nuvo hybrid ink color Panama Rose.  After that first layer of mediums dried, I added Glimmer Paste in Moonstone to the watercolor wash background using a 6x6 stencil.

I added a layer of embellishment mousse in Pink FlambĂ© using the same stencil and a blending sponge.  I wanted to create a tone on tone background to give it some interest, while not taking away too much from my colored images.

Setting my backgrounds aside to dry, I began to color my llamas.  There is a die to cut out the entire llama and one smaller die that is for the blanket on its back.  I had stamped out 4 llamas, 2 to color completely and 2 to color just the blanket of.  After coloring and cutting out the images using my new Sidekick, I began to assemble my cards.

First, I trimmed the background pieces and adhered them to the card bases.  I had already cut out a scalloped circle and some fun foam out of the same circle die.  I added some light blue ink around the edges on the circle and glued it to the card backgrounds using the Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive glue.  It is really strong and perfect for using on a textured & mixed media background.  Next, I glued the colored llama images with another layer of the cut fun foam to the scalloped circles.  I added the little  blanket pieces to the top of the image using a pop dot for even more dimension.

I stamped one sentiment using the black ink on white cardstock and heat embossed the other sentiment onto vellum.  I added each of the sentiments to the right side of the llama in the middle of the card.  I used several colors of Vintage Drops and the Crystal Drops in Bright Gold to the Pom-poms around each llama.  I finished off the card with the Glimmer Paste using a couple of the stamped hearts that are part of the set and adding some Aqua Shimmer to the blankets.

Below is a complete listing of the supplies used.

Blooming Fabulous Card - Tonic Studios Kit 17

Wednesday, January 9, 2019

Hello Friends!  Today I am sharing a shaker card I created using the Tonic Studios Craft Kit No 17.
It is a lovely box of happy, fresh colors, embellishments and stamps & dies.  It was such a nice breath of fresh air after all the holiday products and projects, not to mention the rainy weather!

You can click the video below or HERE to go directly to the my YouTube channel.

Tonic Studios has provided me with some of the products used but the ideas and opinions are totally my own.

I wanted to concentrate on the intricate die set as the frame for the inside shaker bits.  I used the stamp from the kit to add a heat embossed sentiment onto some heat resistant acetate.  I used this gorgeous specialty textured paper “Pink Sunset” from the kit as the background inside the shaker.

I also used that specialty paper to create a liner for the square envelope I also made.

I love the elements of this Craft Kit and I encourage you to check out some of the other videos using the kit.  Here is a link to the official un-boxing from Tonic USA:   https://youtu.be/s_ZzEOPB4iU

Merry Christmas LO & VIDEO - Tonic Studios December 2018

Friday, December 28, 2018

Hello friends!  Today I am sharing a Scrapbook layout for Tonic Studios USA using a photo from Christmas Eve.  I was inspired by this patterned paper from Pinkfresh Studio that has graphic background of hexagons and the Hexagon Layering Dies from Tonic Studios.

Tonic Studios provided me with some of the products used but the ideas and opinions are totally my own.

You can click on the video below or HERE to go directly to my YouTube channel.

I used the Hexagon Layering Die Set to cut out several sizes of hexagons that would layer in the pattern of the paper.  I used the Red Satin Cardstock, Red Glitter paper and plain cardstock that I coated with Expanding Mousse in the color ‘Worn Linen.’

I love the texture that the Expanding Mousse gives and think it looks a little like faux snow.  I added some of the delicate pieces I watercolored from this 'Twirling Arches' die under the photo cluster and layered die cuts.

I die cut the 'Merry Christmas' Sentiment Die for the title out of a dark navy and watercolor cardstock that I misted with gold Color Shine.  I offset the navy die to add a bit of shadow and contrast to make the title stand out more.  I added dozens of the metallic Bright Gold Nuvo Crystal Drops everywhere I could!

I hope you have a happy & safe weekend!

"December" - Art Journaling with The Crafter's Workshop

Tuesday, December 18, 2018

Hello everyone!  It is hard to believe we are approaching the end of 2018!
To take a little break from all the Christmas hustle and for a little art therapy, I spent some time creating these pages in my Art Journal.  I knew I wanted to use colors that would provide lots of contrast and drama and had planned to use some song lyrics from one of my favorites from Sara Barielles called 'December.'

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project.  The opinions I share are solely my own.

Below are the stencils I used...

I began covering everything with shades of violet using the Heavy Body Acrylic paint 'Grape Jelly.' Using this 'Jungle Vines' stencil and plain White Modeling Paste, I created a loose border around the outside edges of the spread.

Then added some black in the center, fading outwards.  Using my favorite Champagne Gold Modeling Paste, I stenciled this large 12x12 'Onion Blossom' across both pages.  I added lots of additional color with watercolor crayons, Gold Gesso and some Mixed Media Paper with more lyrics on them.

I wrote my favorite part of the song using a white gel pen to stand out against the dark background.  There were some things I wish I had done differently, but I really like the overall feel and look to the page.

  It is definitely dramatic!

Thanks for stopping by the Blog today.  Please check out the video for a more detailed look at the products I used and the overall process.
I hope you have a wonderful December Day!

Tonic Studios - Tools of the Trade - Scrapbook LO & VIDEO!

Wednesday, December 5, 2018

Hello friends!  I am excited to share a new scrapbook layout and process video for Tonic Studios.  I used a few Tonic products, but mostly wanted to share my newfound love of the Tonic & Nuvo "Tools of the Trade," i.e. basics, like adhesives, trimmers, basic cardstock, etc.

Tonic Studios provided me with products but the ideas and opinions are totally my own.

You can click below for the process video or HERE to go directly to my channel.

I love the colors and patterns of the Pinkfresh Studio collection 'Indigo Hills' and used a 12x12 as the main background piece and several pieces of the 6x6 papers and some of the Pinkfresh ephemera and some of the American Crafts gold Thickers.

I used some of the Tonic Craft Perfect Watercolor paper to cut out some leaves using my Silhouette Cameo.  I watercolored the leaves to match some of the colors in patterned paper.

I added a light layer of Silver Smoke Mica Mist over the center of the background paper where I planned my photo cluster to be.  I used several pieces of the 6x6 papers under my photos and layered them on a piece of the gorgeous Craft Perfect Mirror Satin Cardstock in Burnished Rose.

I added the watercolored leaves under the photos and around the page, along with a couple other embellishments like the Ephemera from Pinkfresh Studio and American Crafts Thickers.

Finishing up with some gold rub-on pieces, I added several of the Nuvo Vintage Drops adjacent to those rub-ons.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you check out the video as well!

Sparkly Shaker Cards - Tonic Studios November 2018

Sunday, November 25, 2018

Hello crafty friends!  Happy Thanksgiving weekend, for those in the U.S.!
Today, I am going to share a couple cards I created for Tonic Studios using loads of their products and one very anticipated just released one!

I wanted to create two cards that was similar in the overall design but with two very different color schemes.  I planned to center each card around the Circle Die & Shaker Set from Tonic that is such a great idea and easy way to create shaker cards.

Tonic Studios provided me with products but the ideas and opinions are totally my own.

You can click the above to watch the video or HERE to go directly to my YouTube channel.

I used the Nuvo Hybrid Inks and the Nuvo stencil brushes to blend a background from pale turquoise to lavender on my base piece of cardstock.  I used a stencil from The Crafter's Workshop and the Fine Detail Embossing Powder to add the snowflakes onto my blended background.  I used several types of the 'Let It Snow' confetti inside the shaker.

I finished up the card by adding a heat embossed sentiment in silver and some of the Nuvo Crystal Drops.

The next card had the same basic setup.  I created a patterned background to accent the circle shaker as an ornament.  I used the just released Expanding Mousse from Nuvo in Bramley Green over a holly leaf stencil from The Crafter's Workshop.  It is a really innovative product that has lots of uses.  Check out the video for the details about it!

I die cut a sentiment from this Mirror Card in red from Tonic and mounted it onto the vellum border piece of the same "Merry Christmas" sentiment die.

Using the circle die from the shaker set, I used it to be the background of my ornament.  I again used several of the Nuvo confetti in the 'Jingle Bells' set.  I added a piece of twine to my ornament and some Nuvo Crystal Drops in Gold where the holly berries would be.  Lastly, I mounted the entire piece onto Pistachio Green cardstock and then onto my card base.

I really love how festive this second card turned out!  These Die &  Shaker sets come in other shapes too...think I may need to get my hands on some of those!

Thanks for stopping by today!  I appreciate all the support and hope you check out the video as well.  Have an amazing week!
