HAPPY. NSD Sketch & Video - Scrapbook Circle

I am a little later than I had planned to share this LO after NSD, but life with children seems extra crazy this time of year.  Everyone seems to try to squeeze in one last...everything.  I did this page for National Scrapbook Day and made a video of my process using the Scrapbook Circle May kit, 'Here & Now.'

I decided to use the paint like lines in this gorgeous paper from the Fancy Free collection to create an implied division, like the sketch.  I cut out a piece of the Pinkfresh Studio paper that is predominantly black and white and watercolored several of the leaves and flowers.  I used it along that line of pattern change shown in the sketch.

 

I layered lots of the Fancy Free vellum die cuts, other Pink Pailsee die cuts and fussy cut pieces of the Amy Tan acrylic sheet underneath a photo cluster.

 

Using black thread, I stitched thru that entire layered line of embellishments.  I also stitched across some of the vellum letter shapes for my title.  I cut two pieces of patterned paper and places them at the bottom the layout exactly like the sketch.  One piece I painted with black chalkboard paint and then added some journaling with a white gel pen.

 

I love all the bright colors in the May collection and they were perfect to highlight this photo of our oldest child, Lola!  I hope you check out the video and have an amazing day!

love this - Scrapbook Circle April Add-On

  Today, I am sharing a layout I made using the April ‘Stay Cool’ Add-on, which is so yummy, it should be edible!  I realize it is May, but still wanted to post it!

The beautiful fringe hearts from Maggie Holmes & Crate Paper are one of my favorite embellishments in a long while!  It took every bit of my self restraint to NOT hoard these lovelies and use them all on one layout.  I started with a light wash using color shine onto the white paper with tiny black dots.  I didn’t trim off the hot pink branding strip, instead keeping it as a border between 2 patterned papers.

The mint corrugated paper that is part of the main kit is a perfect accompaniment to the texture in the hearts.  I cut tiny slits along the corrugated lines to add even more texture.  I also added a few pieces of washi from Pinkfresh Studio, also part of the Add-on under each of the hearts.  These adhesive brads from Simple Stories made a perfect accent with black, white and a hot pink heart.

inspire - Scrapbook Circle April

Happy FriYay!  I wanted to share a layout I created for Scrapbook Circle

with the April 'One Fine Day' kit, just for fun.  There wasn't an assignment or any reason for this page,

and sometimes that makes it easier and lets the creative juices flow!

These were photos from my daughter's 12th birthday.  It turned out to be a hectic day, but we still had a couple friends and a cake...and of course some gifts, including a new planner!

I used the Webster's Pages patterned paper that is a collaged map print in pastels.  I played off the angles in the map, cutting the paper at a 45 degree angle, anchoring the right side.

I cut several of the tiny photo frames from the 6x6 Dear Lizzy pad and then cut them out like frames.  Scattering out the frames, washi strips and a few other embellishments under my photos, popping the pictures up with dimensional adhesive.  I added a few random sequin puff stickers from Pinkfresh Studio and stitched around the outside of the entire background.

I love the soft Spring colors from the April kit, but am looking forward to some bolder colors with May!!  Thanks for stopping by and have an amazing day!

Citrus, Stitching & Sunshine - The Crafter's Workshop!

Hi there!  I wanted to share a scrapbook page I made using one of the newly released stencils from The Crafter's Workshop, Citrus Montage.  I had plans to use this stencil after I first saw it, but after this lunch date, I knew this would be the perfect way to document the story!

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project.  The opinions I share are solely my own.

I started by using mini Distress Inks directly onto the stencil, overlapping the colors from the pale green to orange.

Then, I misted the stencil with water.

I pressed the paper onto the top of the wet stencil, instead of trying to flip the stencil around muddling the color.  I wanted the reverse of the stencil, so there would be loads of color for the background.

While the background dried, I misted a couple tags, one plain and one that I used as my title, that was already die cut.

Since the background was fairly simple, I wanted to add some definition around the border & used the 6×6 stitched detail stencil.  I used washi tape to isolate the one piece of each stitching piece I planned to use.  This made it easier to avoid over inking the area I was working on.

Using the tiny cross stitch pattern and another t-shaped stitch, I inked the border of the entire background.

Finally, I layered my photo on top of the misted tags and a added a couple more embellishments.

I added my journaling to the bottom of the page and the date to a tag I placed onto the photo itself. To me, this stencil screams for summer and sunshine and bright beautiful lemon-lime colors!

explore H A P P Y - Scrapbook Circle April

Hi there!  I am sharing a page I made using the April kit from Scrapbook Circle,

'One Fine Day' and the 'Stay Cool' Add-on.

 I was inspired by this watercolor wash paper from Dear Lizzy.  I thought it made a perfect sky for

background with some watercolor for a day at the softball field!

 I fussy cut some of the clouds in this Simple Stories paper and painted the edges in gold to help define the cloud shapes.  Inspired by the gold dipped Thickers from the February Scrapbook Circle kit, I painted the bottom half of the phrase stickers from Bella Blvd., also included in the main kit.

 I love taking inspiration from the products themselves, either by color, pattern or technique.

Adding a few puffy stickers, enamel brads and machine stitching I finished the layout.

Hope Art Journal - The Crafter's Workshop April

Hello friends!  I am excited to share a new Art Journal spread I created for my April post at The Crafter's Workshop using lots of the new Winter release stencils.  I also made a video of my process.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project.  The opinions I share are solely my own.

I started by added an ombre layer of gelatos ranging from light pink to almost red.  After adding another a layer of transparent tissue paper, I started stenciling.  Using the 12×12’s with spray mist and acrylic paint I created a background for the smaller 6×6 stencils I chose.

I used a combination of stamp ink, more acrylic paint and modeling paste with the remaining 6×6 stencils.  After letting the paint dry between each layer I used modeling paste with the angel wings and butterfly stencil along the spine of my journal.

Finally, I added some more black paint, India ink and gold drips.

I finished up by doodling all over the pages with a white gel pen and several different black pens.

Scrapbook Circle - One Item Wonder March

Hi friends!  I know it is April, but today I am sharing one of my last posts for March, a One Item Wonder using the Maggie Holmes clear stickers from Crate Paper.  The March kit ‘Oh Happy Day’ is full of lots of colors, but because of the theme, I decided to stick with black, white and bright pink.

I wanted to leave a pretty large area blank because I intended to use the stickers in combination with my own writing to do the journaling.  I love the current handwriting and calligraphy trend, especially combining script and block letters.

After creating a strip on the right side for my photo and some embellishments, I added lots of watercolor onto the seam where all the papers met.

I knew basically what I wanted to write, and the words and phrases from the sticker package helped jump start that thought as well!  I did write it down beforehand to try to plan out how much space I would need and how many of the stickers I would be using.  The theme of the sticker sheet was obviously perfect for a page about flowers from my Valentine!

Part of me hated not hoarding the stickers and spreading them out, but at the same time, it was fun to make a big impact!  Thanks for stopping by the Blog today.
