head into clouds

Hi everyone!  Happy almost April??!  This year is flying by!
This is a super quick post to share a page I did just for me using all the newest Pinkfresh Studio products!

Even though I am all about layers, these pieces wanted to stand alone!  So I let them! ;)

I thought all the rich pinks and golds would look great with a black and white photo.  And to make all of it pop, I painted a watercolor wash on the white cardstock in a contrasting turquoise.  I love the way it turned out!

I used a couple old Studio Calico & Ali Edwards stamps on the label die cuts and added some stitching to tie it all together.  This was definitely a layout that I made myself walk away from to keep it clean.  I used to scrapbook like this, I may need to revisit it!

Thanks for stopping by!  Lots of new things coming up and a new #tbt video on Thursday!
Have an amazing last day of March!

GARDENING ANGELS - Come On Get Crafty March Sketch

Tuesday, March 24, 2015

Hi there!  The sun is finally shining here in Alabama after what seems like a month long rain cloud hanging over us!
I know it won't last, but it is so beautiful outside, I thought this would be the
perfect day to share this layout I did for the Come On Ge Crafty Blog March sketch!

The sketch is below and you can find the original blog post with the other DT members pages HERE!

This was such an awesome sketch that translated into 8.5x11, 12x12 & even card layouts.
I used a close up of our cherry tree blooms and paired it with lots of the new Elle's Studio 'Cienna' products.

I love the Elle's Studio wood veneers and all the soft colors are perfect for this photo.
There will be many more projects this Spring with photos of this tree.  We planted it about 7 years ago
in honor of my Dad, who died almost 11 years ago.  That is the reason for the title of the LO.

I used a piece of this gorgeous pink bokeh paper from Webster's Pages as the top border, similar the the sketch.  Instead of squares from the sketch, I used the Elle's Studio die cuts in flowers, tags and the veneers.

I love the gold rub-ons from Pinkfresh Studio and included this phrase at the bottom,
"grow your dreams like flowers..."  A perfect fit!

Thanks for stopping by today and hope the sun is shining today in your part of the world, for at least a little while!

Happy Days { & video }

Saturday, March 21, 2015

Hi everyone!  Despite being super busy, I have been doing a few layouts just for me,
just for some creative therapy and playing with ends of kits and bits on my desk.
I have been totally hoarding this ombre woodgrain paper from Crate Paper and needed to
use it as a part of cleaning up my craft space.

I made a video of the process and it is pretty short...click below or HERE to my YouTube channel.

I added some gesso onto this polka dot pattern and then painted it with gelatos.

I made a cluster of layers and wood veneer, some I painted with more gelatos,
and a little envelope to hide my journaling.

I love all the new Pinkfresh Studio products with all the gold foil.

Thanks for stopping by today!  I have a barrage of posts to make this week...
Have an amazing day!

FUN TODAY - Scrapbook Circle March One Item Wonder

Thursday, March 19, 2015

Hi there!!
One of my assignments at Scrapbook Circle was to use the exclusive cork shapes included
in the March 'Here's The Story' kit.  The page I came up with is below!

Although there are triangles as well as circles, I decided to use the circular cork letters for part of my title.
I made a modified grid layout with my title block being one square and the other three photos.

I adhered them to the large Simple Stories paperclips and then on top pf some patterned
paper and a Pinkfresh Studio card.  These photos are from our recent trip to Universal Studios and to
the Hogwarts Express station.  I thought the circles looked great with the photo of my son in
front of the engine, tying in the circles and the darker colors.

I used one of the March Digi Cuts, enlarged and cut on my Silhouette as a mask for some
gold embossing paste.  It worked great and tied in the gold paper from My Mind's Eye too!

Be sure to check out the March kit and Add-Ons...so many new exclusives from Scrapbook Circle!
Thanks for stopping by & I hope you have an amazing day!!

Everyday Life. Documented - Come On Get Crafty

Tuesday, March 17, 2015

Hi everyone and Happy St. Patrick's Day!
I am sharing a little piece of my everyday life on the Come On Get Crafty Blog
and this is what it looks like this at some point just about everyday.

The Come On Get Crafty shop is filling up with lots of the newest products and I am loving all the new BasicGrey 'Aurora' and 'Adrift' collection!  It has great colors and I love the ephemera pack with all the acetate pieces.  I used a combination of several pieces from that collection along with some other new pieces from Pinkfresh Studio including the puffy stickers & gold rub-ons.

The chipboard letters from BasicGrey have the coolest font that reminds me of
Frank Lloyd Wright or Charles Mackintosh.  I used a couple wood veneer pieces,
one from Elle's Studio and one from BasicGrey.

Thanks for stopping by today and make sure you check out the store for all the new goodies!
They are so inspiring and work well together despite manufacturer!
Have an amazing day!

hello sweet sweet - Scrapbook Circle March Sketch

Saturday, March 14, 2015

Happy Weekend everyone!!
This is my take for the Scrapbook Circle March sketch using the
"Here's The Story" Main kit & "Tell Me" Add-on.

You can find the original post HERE and see all the other DT designs.
Diana's sketches are always the best way to jump start my creativity after opening a new kit.
It is almost always the first page I make and sometimes my favorite of the month!

I used gold embossing paste with a random polka dot mask from Heidi Swapp for part of the background.
I stuck to the sketch almost exactly as it was, not feeling any need to change it!

I used the digi cut and misted it gold for part of my title.

Thanks for stopping by and make sure you check out the sketch and awesome prize!
You can submit your sketch on the Blog Post above or on the Scrapbook Circle Facebook page.

you are loved. { & Video }

Thursday, March 12, 2015

Hi there!  This post is late for a Thursday morning, but better late than never!?!
I needed a little creative therapy for just me, this was the result...and I filmed the process too! :)

I have an entire tray of some of my favorite products, some bits of left over favs and a few new products just begging for attention!  I used this gorgeous floral die cut from The Cut Shoppe, cut from watercolor paper and painted it to match my daughter's p.j.'s and some of the papers.

Click on the link above for the video or HERE for my YouTube channel.

I used some Lawn Fawn dies to cut out a couple pieces from the Dear LIzzy Derendipity collection.
Layered with lots of other bits and pieces, sequins, stickers, gold polka dot vellum and doilies.

I love creating pages like this and it is part of my need for this hobby!

Thanks for checking it out and have a great evening!

stay GOLD - Mini Album Cover for My Creative Scrapbook

Tuesday, March 10, 2015

Hi there!  I am sharing a cover for a mini album I made as a March Guest Designer for
My Creative Scrapbook Blog.  I was given the March Main Kit to use for my projects.
I made 12x12 layouts, but I also made this album cover and filmed my process.

You can access the original Blog post on My Creative Scrapbook HERE.  Click below for
the video or you can find my YouTube channel HERE.  It is a process that was frustrating
at times, but shared it anyway...coming up with a design isn't always easy for all of us.

The majority of the main kit is comprised of the Simple Stories 'I AM' collection.  I used one of the patterned pieces of paper that is covered with text.
I wanted to have that as a neutral background for a floral cluster using the ivory Prima flowers from the kit.

I painted the tips of the paper flowers with gold paint and used a couple gelatos to highlight several phrases of the text.  I used a combination of Simple Stories stickers and feathers I fussy cut from some of the paper.  I made a cluster of the stickers, papers and some of the ribbon from the kit under the flower and layered it all onto the gorgeous gold polka dot vellum.

I intend to use my Cinch machine to bind the chipboard cover into an album so I placed the entire cluster right of center.  I am pleased with the way the album came out, regardless of the length of time it took me to get there.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have an amazing day!!

you are my MOON my SON and all my STARS - Scrapbook Circle March Designer's Choice

Monday, March 9, 2015

I am sharing the layout I did for my Designer's Choice assignment using the March "Here's The Story" main kit and the "Tell Me" add-on.
you ARE MY SON_SBC_March 2015 border
I just love the color combination of the mints and peach and corals that are in this month's kit.  They made a fantastic background to make my photo pop.  I layered lots of different patterns under the photo and ran lots of random stitching through it.
you ARE MY SON_SBC_March 2015 (9)
I have always loved the quote about loving you to the moon and back from the first moment I read it to my daughter.  Thinking of it gave me the idea for the title of this page, using 'son,' instead of 'sun.'
you ARE MY SON_SBC_March 2015 (6)
This is one of those layouts that needs no journaling...at least to me.  I could write a page about this photo and my sweet son, but decided that the title said everything I felt!
you ARE MY SON_SBC_March 2015 (8)
Thanks for stopping by today!

#boys will be boys - Come On Get Crafty

Friday, March 6, 2015

Happy Weekend!!
Today on the Come On Get Crafty Blog, I am sharing a page inspired by the sketch I drew!
This is a new Friday sketch challenge for the DT which I love!

I had these three photos printed out of my son and wanted to come up with a sketch to go with them.
I love scrapping pictures taken in rapid succession like this. Especially for a silly subject such as this one!
The title is a cut file from one of the workshops from Wilna Furstenburg.  I cut it out in two different
sizes and watercolored them to match the background painting I did.

This is the way I sketch ideas in my journal, so this is what I am sharing!  Using the stars,
I was suggesting paint splatters, stars, flowers, hearts, any sort of embellishment really.  I ended
up using both splatters and then added stars too.  I used papers and stickers from Bella Blvd. along
with a couple Silhouette die cut titles that I watercolored, coming up with a palette of blues and aquas.

I thought cutting the chevron paper into smaller strips, like arrows and then reversing them
added to the movement of the "light saber!" :)  I added wood veneer stars from Freckled Fawn
and a wood veneer card from Amy Tangerine under my journaling.

You can see the original Blog Post HERE!  The shop is filling up with lots of new goodies!
Thanks for stopping by today!  Have an amazing weekend!

Presenting the My Creative Scrapbook March kits:

Here is what I created with the MARCH MAIN kit:

I used as many of the Blue Fern Studios chipboards as possible.

I used gelatos to color all them which worked great, especially to make them fade into other colors!

I heat embossed the camera and heart with gold embossing powder.  I love the sparkle it adds!

I used mists to color this chipboard frame and its letters too.

This layout was SO much fun to put together!  I used lots of phrase stickers on top of this
text paper from Simple Stories to highlight different pieces.

I colored some watercolor paper with gelatos and cut them into random squares and rectangles.
I layered all the papers and stickers that had 'I Am' written on them and fussy cut the little banner too.

I used the stickers and papers from the Simple Stories collection along with this Prima flower
to make a mini-album cover for my daughter.  I used the Heidi Swapp gold sticker too!
