Pinkfresh Studio July Post

Thursday, July 31, 2014

I have been doing more single page LO's lately, and after sifting through my albums,
I realized that most of my single photo pages are of people.
I use multiple photos for trips, events, celebrations, etc. to better share all of a story.

Anyway, for this page I knew I wanted to use this photo of my kids and thought the text on this aqua transparency
card was a perfect match!  I randomly cut squares and rectangles out of some patterned paper and a
scrap piece of paper I had watercolored onto.  I just cut them with my scissors, not evenly or even the same size.

I used the new stamp set at the top corner and at the bottom right corner,
layering with the printed wood veneer circles on top.
The new acetate alphas matched the card and the font is so fun and whimsical!

Supplies:  Limited Edition kit (stamp set, transparent card, transparent alphas,
scallop border sticker), Screen printed Wood Veneers

For my second layout, I printed my photo to the size of this stitched canvas pocket tag.
I layered the pocket and photo on a couple of circles using the new Scribble Circle die.

I used a couple of the stamps from the 'Sweet Dreams' set and one of the label frames on a journaling tag.
I also stamped a few of the tiny stamps included in the Limited Addition kit and the 'never STOP drteaming'
stamp over some paint splatters.

Supplies:  Limited Edition kit (stamp set, label frame drop sticker, stitched canvas tag, Circle scribble metal die),

Finally, I used this stamp for the sentiment of my card and embellished it with one
of the puffy scallop borders and a enamel heart drop sticker.

Supplies:  Limited Edition kit (scallop puffy sticker),

Most of the supplies I used are part of the Limited Edition kit.  It is extremely versatile and a great value
for so many embellishments!  It has the most amazing packaging, which I am a total sucker for.
I think the packaging design shows the detail the company puts in to everything...

Check out the way other DT members used it in their projects on the Pinkfresh Studio Blog.

Come On Get Crafty - Product Showcase Transparencies

Wednesday, July 30, 2014

This is the layout I am sharing on Come On Get Crafty today focusing on a specific product.
I love the growing trend to have printed vellums and transparent acetate sheets as part of new collections.
I love the versatility that vellum can provide; subtly, masking, gorgeous layering and more!
I decided to focus on using as many layers of vellum and transparencies as possible in one layout.

All of the pieces I used are either Dear Lizzy or Maggie Holmes, both American Crafts, and all some of my favorite pieces in the last few years!  I love the richness and depth layers can give a project, but with vellums and transparencies, I can achieve that depth without the visual weight of too many layers.

I used two different acetate pieces in the background and another gold edged acetate overlay under my photo.  Another overlay provided a place for my journaling, with the help of a Slick Writer.  I used a gorgeous piece of turquoise vellum from Crate Paper (one of my all time favs) and another gold doily vellum, fussy cut for more layers under my photo.  All of those pieces are layered around a 6x6 piece of paper from Lily Bee Design.

I love the way this turned out...lots of pieces but it looks fairly simple and lets the photo
become the focus.  Check out the rest of the transparencies and vellums available in the store!

fun Summer 2008 - Scrapbook Circle DT Choice

Monday, July 28, 2014

Happy Monday everyone!
This is an extra page I made using the July Scrapbook Circle kit, 'Our Adventure' and 'Away We Go' add-on.

I love this piece of pattern paper from Elle's Studio because it is such a great framework,
literally, to start a page.

And because it was grey, I felt like it needed lots of color.  I used several of the Simple Stories cards and
trimmed them down to fit. Then I layered small photos and other embellishments on top of them.

These photos were from my son's first trip to the beach 6 years ago!  Whoa...that is hard to believe!
He didn't want much to do with the water, so we just plonked him down in the sand and he would play for hours.

I used the Crate Paper bottle caps die cuts to show their age.

The August kit 'Island Paradise' is now revealed on the Scrapbook Circle Website!  It is really fun!
Thanks for stopping by and have an amazing day!

HUG happy

Here is a LO I did, just for me and for the Scrap Our Stash July Sketch.
I especially loved the sketch since I have been scrapping more single photos lately.

Here is the sketch by Rochelle Spears and the original post HERE.
The other part of the challenge was to use ribbon or trim.

I used lots of different collections, but was mostly inspired by the colors in the My Mind's Eye chipboard pieces.

I used a piece of ribbon trim from Making Memories...digging WAY back into my stash for that one!
I threaded it through a piece of chipboard I cut slits into.

Thanks for checking out the blog today!  Have an amazing weekend!

Come On Get Crafty - 1st Post 'Why Didn't I Think of That?'

Thursday, July 24, 2014

Today is my first post as a DT member at Come On Get Crafty!  I am so excited to be a part of this amazingly talented team and can't wait to share my projects with everyone

I made a December Daily album last year and had reorganized most of my papers & embellishments into Seasonal instead of by manufacturer.  Although I think that is great for holiday projects, I forget about shopping in that part of my craft room for supplies the rest of the year.  I have piles of summer photos to scrap and most of the pictures are full of primary colors.  What a great way to use seasonal papers in the summertime!   I thought the holiday papers from Lawn Fawn were perfect for this idea with mostly tone on tone colored patterns.

I used a couple other papers from Lily Bee Design and Bella Blvd. to add blue, yellow
and black to the color palette.  I punched circles from the patterned papers and
layered them behind a circle background template I cut using my Silhouette.
I added a few stickers and die-cuts from Pink Paislee to add some details.
I also watercolored the title I cut from my Silhouette.

I added some watercolor to my Silhouette cut title to tie in those colors.

I love the pop of black this circle I punched from a Bella Blvd. paper adds.

With all the new collections about to be available on the market, this may be the perfect
time to use some of last years holiday products in a new way!  I need to do more of this...
too much stash to work thru!  :)  Thanks so much for stopping by today!

HOW SWEET IT IS - Scrapbook Circle July kit

Wednesday, July 23, 2014

Hello everyone!  I am sharing my last layout using the July ‘Our Adventure’ kit from Scrapbook Circle and a couple of the exclusive Printables that come with the main kit.

I loved this photo of my son sleeping in our backyard and thought it would be perfect to make a BIG impact!  I chose this wood planked patterned paper as the background to tie in the terracotta from the photo and make the cut file pop.  I backed the negative space behind the words with the white brick patterned paper, but it is very subtle.

I used the Pinkfresh Studio colorblock wood triangles to add emphasis to the words in that cut file.  I wanted to keep the rest of the LO simple and just added one sticker and one of the printables on top of the photo where there was a lot of blank space.  I added another small triangle printable to the top right hand corner and stitched both pieces to the photo.

I love layers and excessive embellishments, but every now and then, I really enjoy something clean and simple.

Neat and Tangled Blog to get started back at the beginning!  If you haven't seen yesterday's hop,
make sure to visit the Pinkfresh Studio Blog and check out all the inspiration there!

The first project I did for the Hop was a layout featuring a combination of stamps from stamps from
Neat & Tangled and Pinkfresh Studio and some of the new wood veneers from Pinkfresh too.

The Pinkfresh Studio stamp set '& Hello' inspired the whole theme of the page.

The 'Ink Splash' stamp from Neat & Tangled added
great texture to the watercolors and background.

The second project I did was a simple card using the 'Kindness Matters' stamp set from Neat & Tangled
and another wood veneer from Pinkfresh Studio.  I embosses my card first with a polka dot
embossing folder and used a few of the matte gold sequins from Neat & Tangled to accent them.

I really like the lavender, green and navy colors together in my LO, so I used those again here.

I hope you enjoyed my projects using some of the cool stamps and products from Neat & Tangled and Pinkfresh Studio.

WASAAP? & Tutorial - Scrapbook Circle Be Real (& Circle Round Up)

Saturday, July 19, 2014

The 'Be Real' post on the Scrapbook Circle Blog is reserved for scrapping the everyday,
either thru Project Life or thru Instagram.  I used this Instagram photo of a recent evening with
good friends including our godson.  He and our son are only 6 months apart and are both serious posers!

I also chose to use the July Circle Round Up as inspiration!

I knew I wanted to use the clear plastic stars from Studio Calico as the Add-on accent, but
didn't want them to disappear.  I decided to stamp on top of them with white Staz-On ink
and used a stripe roller stamp to mimic the stripes in the yellow background paper.

I re-inked my stamp pad to make sure it was pretty juicy, since the white dries out pretty quick.
Then I used a tiny bit of removable adhesive to stick the stars on my craft mat.
I didn't want them to slide around with the roller and not get a clean stripe.

It worked great with only one pass on each star, but the roller and my craft mat were really sticky!
It was almost like modeling paste, I had to wash the mat with warm water and rolled the stamp in cleaner.

It actually made me think that modeling paste would have been really cool,
especially with polka dots or maybe small stars!

Stamping on them also let me hide a tiny bit of adhesive until I could stitch them to my page.

I embellished with several pieces of the Scrapbook Circle July printable, some stickers and die cuts.
Between these hamsters in the photo and the Circle Round-up this LO came together really fast!

sweet DAD - Scrapbook Circle One Item Wonder

Wednesday, July 16, 2014

I am sharing my DT assignment for July called 'One Item Wonder,' where we focus on one of the pieces in the main kit from the month.  Mine was to highlight the Webster's Pages Journaling cards that are in the 'Our Adventure' kit.

They are such fun colors and patterns and have a recurring theme, like the rest of the kit, using
cameras and viewfinders.  I decided to let the cards dictate the color palette and theme for my layout.
I used one of the photos from an impromptu photo shoot on Father's Day and printed it in black & white.

I used this gorgeous pink patterned paper with the script wtrtingin on it as my background
and then layered lots the WP journaling cards on top of it.  I wanted to create a mat to frame
the photo but with lots of irregular edges, some patterns showing more than others, etc.
I even cut out his 'Yeah' from of the cards to adhere it to the photo.

I made sure to have one card poking out to write the actual journaling on and left room for a title too.
I used the twine from the kit to tie in the large camera die-cut from the Crate Paper ephemera package.

I stitched the cards to my background in random places with several different stitches, trying to make it look more quilt-ish and to give it texture.  I love the black and white contrast against all these gorgeous colors!

Thanks for stopping by today and you can see the original post on the Scrapbook Circle blog HERE!

celebrate today - Scrapbook Circle July Sketch

Thursday, July 10, 2014

Hi there!  I am sharing the July sketch from Scrapbook Circle that I did using the 'Our Adventure' kit.
You can see the original post HERE and the other DT takes on the sketch.

I used the exclusive Scrapbook Circle stamp on a glassine bag from the June kit and
tucked the yellow tag with my journaling inside.

I absolutely LOVE the vellum photo overlays from Elle's Studio.  I had to use these photos
with it and the lemon slices in the paper are kind of like little sunbursts!

The color block wood veneers from Pinkfresh Studio helped bring in the pink from
my daughter's swimsuit.  I used the SBC star stamp on top of a couple punched lemon slices too.

This kit just demands scrapping summer photos!  At least to me anyway!
You can enter your LO for the Sketch Challenge by adding it to the link above of to the
Scrapbook Circle Facebook page!  Good luck and have an amazing! day!
