Cardmaking - The Crafter's Workshop September 2015

Friday, September 25, 2015

I love making cards for people, it is a gift in itself and a truly thoughtful way to share our love of creative crafting!  I also love to give blank cards, in a set, to someone for  them to give someone else!  It is a great little gift for teachers or as a hostess gift.

I used the 3 stencils below with a combination of spray mist & Staz-On Ink.

ComplicatedHearts           TCW - Mini Graceful Moths
I started with the 12×12 Organic Matter Stencil on Bazzill white cardstock and Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Blush.

I love that this stencil also has the reverse mask!TCW_Mylar Steciled Cards_Sept 2015 (1)

I used the Complicated Hearts and Graceful Moths 6×6 stencils on a piece of yellow Bazzill Mylar.  I used both black and white Staz-On Ink and it worked great!  I was a little worried it would smudge or not stencil clearly, but it was easy and dried beautifully!

I cut my cardstock down to 5-1/4″ x 5-1/4″ cards to mount onto a black card base.  I also trimmed out all the mylar pieces I stenciled.  I made extras and could make more cards or will save some for another project.

I made a simple formula for each card, layering 2 different doilies, gold thread and one of the mylar stencils on top.

I used the stencils from the Graceful Moths stencil, even though I thought they were butterflies!

I also added a tiny clothespin holding a sticker for a sentiment.  They are all general and could be used for a variety of card needs!

I stacked the cards up with vellum envelopes, wrapped a piece of vellum around the stack and added one of the stenciled hearts and twine to hold it all together!

I hope this inspired you to give the gift of your creativity to someone else!  Sort of like paying it forward, crafty style!! :)  You can follow the links below to the stencils I used.

@ 42 - Scrapbook Circle August Kit

Sunday, September 20, 2015

Still playing a little catch up from August!
This was another page I made using the Scrapbook Circle August 'Make It Happen' kit and 'You Shine' Add-on.

I had made this collage of 4 photos from Shawn's birthday we celebrated at the beach.  I printed the collage out at 5x5 and layered on top of several papers from the Studio Calico 6x6 pad I trimmed down.

I decided to keep a super stark color palette of black and whites with a pop of yellow from the Fancy Pants die cut numbers. I also added a couple pops of teal from some Elle's Studio bits.

I trimmed the black cardstock background to mount onto another piece of black and white patterned paper from Pinkfresh Studio.  I love using a white gel pen on black paper!

Thanks for stopping by today.  Hope you have an amazing Sunday and start to another week!

ALWAYS THINK THAT YOU ARE MAGIC - Scrapbook Circle September Take 2

Thursday, September 17, 2015

Hi there!  This was my Take 2 assignment using the September ‘Hello, Hello’ main kit and Embellishment kit.
I chose to take inspiration from the super talented DT member Gina Lideros and this fabulous page she made using the January  ‘All You Need is Love’  kit.  This is my finished page below.
019
This is Gina’s gorgeous page that inspired me with the lovely. large title which dominates the page.
I also loved the circles scattered around the layout and the photo at the bottom.
035
I decided to lift her title directly, using the fun Amy Tangerine Finders Keepers Thickers.  I also painted a faint pink stripe wash on the white cardstock background.  I loved the striped paper Gina used and wanted to add a little something to ground the title and photo.

I fussy cut some of the speech bubbles from this patterned paper using them around the page like Gina’s circles.  I added some of the Crate Paper chipboard pieces and added some stitching too.

THIRD GRADE ADVENTURE - Scrapbook Circle Sketch September

Sunday, September 13, 2015

Hi there!  This is the page I did using the Scrapbook Circle September Sketch and the 'Hello, Hello' Main kit and Embellishment Add-on.

This is the sketch below and you can find the original post on the Scrapbook Circle Blog HERE, which has a couple other DT members takes on the sketch.  It was a perfect sketch for several of the photos I took on the first day of school!

I pretty much stuck to the sketch using patterned papers and embellishments in the top left corner, including some of the Freckled Fawn glitter stars and Scrapbook Circle acrylic stars.

I used these Crate Paper cork stickers from a previous Scrapbook Circle kit for my title.

This sketch is part of the September Sketch Challenge and the prize is SO awesome!
You have until September 23rd to enter your layout!

Thanks for stopping by and have an amazing day!

Inspired by Grids - The Crafter's Workshop September

Saturday, September 12, 2015

Hi there! This was my post on The Crafter's Workshop Blog last week.
I have had this Instagram photo in a “to be documented” pile and was inspired by the square format to use other grids and square shapes.april 2015_TCW_Sept 2015 border 2
I used the 3 stencils below with a combination of mixed media ink, spray mist, ink and modeling paste.
TCW549OblongTangledWebTCW504LifeTidbits
I started with the 12×12 Oblong Doodling Template on white cardstock and a mix of 3 different ColorBox Media Inx.
april 2015_TCW_Sept 2015 (16)

I concentrated the teal color under the largest square, where I planned the photo to be and worked out from there.  After trimming the cardstock, I mounted the painted grid onto a couple different patterned papers.
april 2015_TCW_Sept 2015 (21)
I had several tags, including a canvas one, that I stenciled distress ink using the Mini Life Tidbits calendar stencil.  I added another layer of gold modeling paste with the 2015 over the canvas tag.

Wanting to add some color and texture under the photo, I misted some vellum with the 6×6 Tangled Web stencil.  I liked the combination of grungy grid with the larger irregular background.

After layering the vellum and stenciled tags, I added the photo with 3-dimensional adhesive onto the background.

I cut a couple rectangles out of the background with a craft knife to let the patterned papers show.  I also used lots of stitching to secure the pieces down and add texture.020

family IS RELATIVE - Scrapbook Circle Designer's Choice

Thursday, September 10, 2015

Hi there September scrappers!  I hope everyone is getting settled back into routines and ready for Fall!
The September ‘Hello, Hello’ kit and add-ons are full of new products from all the summer releases.  I used the main kit and Embellishment Add-on to make this layout below documenting an evening with friends!
family IS RELATIVE_SBD_Sept 2015 border
I chose this fun paper from Crate Paper with all the little houses since we were celebrating a birthday with our former neighbors.  It is pretty busy, so I fussy cut around the houses to make a base for the page.  I used the back side of the same paper with the hexagonal wood grain pattern to transition to white cardstock.
family IS RELATIVE_SBD_Sept 2015 (7)
The theme of this page was inspired by the Scrapbook Circle acrylic word, ‘family’ and the paper with the houses.  I die cut lots of clouds in different sizes out of a large striped paper to tie in a few of the chipboard stickers.
family IS RELATIVE_SBD_Sept 2015 (4)
I love these black foil stickers from Studio Calico and used them to help balance out the black of the acrylic title.  I finished the embellishments with the mint Dear Lizzy tickets and a couple of the geotag clips from Freckled Fawn.

Sun-kissed - Scrapbook Circle August Kit

Tuesday, September 1, 2015

Happy September Everyone!  One of my favorite months of the year...love the beginning of Fall.

I thought it would be appropriate to share a layout from last month as a goodbye to summer.
I used the Scrapbook Circle 'Make It Happen' main kit and the 'Shine On' Add-on from August.

I used two large pictures from our last beach trip with the August kits.  This is one of my favorites.
I kept it simple adding a couple different patterns to the right side and stitching them down.

I loved the colors and saying of this transparency from Pinkfresh Studio and thought it was perfect to overlay on the photo.  The gold sequin sticks from Crate Paper are to die for!!  I thought of them as little waves around my title.

Thanks for stopping by today!
