Remember This - Scrapbook Layout *& video*

On my continuous journey to clean out my craft room, I decided to use several of the papers I had been saving and combined this color palette of navy, grey, white and olive.

I used some Distress Inks and Distress Oxide Inks to paint a wash of several colors on a white cardstock background.

Using a combination of papers and embellishments, I created a cluster of layers to mat my photos on top of.

I used lots of the Pinkfresh Studio chipboard hearts and a chipboard Thickers title.

capture - Scrapbook Circle October kit

Can you believe it is November?  Time seems to be slipping by faster than normal this past several weeks...An even better reason for trying to slow down and 'capture' a moment!  This was a LO I made using the Scrapbook Circle October kit, 'The Weekender.'

I did lots of fussy cutting between the patterned paper from Shimelle and the metallic gold cards from Pretty Little Studio, cutting leaves.  I created a cascade of the leaves to highlight the theme and background of my photo from a Fall photo shoot.

I made a photo mat using another of the metallic cards and a piece of the paper from Pretty Little Studio from the Oakley Avenue collection.  I added lots of the cut apart tags from the Oakley Avenue collection and some of the gold foam American Crafts Thickers.

The 'capture' title was perfect for this day, this time of year and the reason for memory keeping itself!

ALL the GOOD Vibes - Scrapbook Circle August

Today I'm sharing this page I made using the August "Snapshot" main kit.  I also used it in the ABC Back-to-School Alpha posts on the Scrapbook Circle of Friends Facebook page for "G," Glitter.

I used the exclusive stencil that came in the kit to add heat embossing on my background. 

I masked off a triangle to repeat the stencil pattern and to tie in the embellishments on the horse's bridle. 

I am using a combination of gold and tan embossing powder over my stencil and it created an interesting pattern of stripes in part of the heat embossing area.

After heating it up and allowing it to dry, I layered several of different pieces of patterned paper for a photo mat and for some stripes under that cluster.

I chose to use other patterns that contained geometric shapes to tie all of it together.  Finally, I embellished with some of the Pink Paislee tags and white puffy stickers from Freckled Fawn.

I heat embossed over half of this Alpha Thicker for my daughter's initial and tying in more of the stencil.

TWO awesome - Scrapbook Circle July 'Be Real'

Hello!  Today, I am sharing a simple page I created using the July ‘Today is the Day’ kit.  I wanted to document a couple photos taken with my phone of my two girls…One 12 and one 6, or 42…closer to my age!

We were sitting around on the porch watching the late afternoon pass us by.  Lola was so relaxed and settled for once, and the background made such a lovely contrasting sienna color tho the denim and black.

I painted a quick couple strokes of a pale aqua paint onto a light kraft cardstock for my background.  I added a couple pieces of patterned paper behind my photo, tearing a few of the edges.  I tucked lots of Elle’s Studio, Fancy Pants and Pretty Little Studio labels and tags underneath my photo.

Finally, I used a couple wood veneers that are Scrapbook Exclusive pieces in the July kit.  I added some journaling underneath the date stamp and added a few puffy stickers.

smile - Scrapbook Circle July 2016

I am really excited to sharing something for this week's post at Scrapbook Circle using the 'Today Is the Day' July kit.  Helping coordinate the Blog, GDT's and our summer schedule has left little time for designing.  I wanted to create a simple graphic page with this patterned paper that would make my photo pop!

I started by cutting this large stacked butterfly design on the Elle’s Studio paper with my Silhouette.  I thought this paper would be an eye catching way to include the die-cut words, as the center to each butterfly.

I used an inch of the same patterned paper as a border, on the right side of the background.  I chose a few of the Elle’s Studio wood veneers and painted them matching colors using my gelatos.  I am a little crazy about color matching embellishments lately and these vibrant summer colors in the July kit are perfect for my current obsession!

I added most of the embellishments using a hot glue gun and added a few color coordinated stickers and die-cuts.  The ‘smile’ puffy sticker from Fancy Pants served as my title!

SEEING RED - The Crafter's Workshop July 2016

Hi there friends!  Today, I am sharing summer on a page from an earlier post on The Crafter's Workshop!  Or at least, what lots of our summer Sundays look like.  I used 3 stencils, two 6×6 and a 12×12 version of one of the smaller ones.  I also made a process video you can find below!

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project.  The opinions I share are solely my own.

I wanted to document the Instagram photos my husband took of his tomato salad prep, step-by-step.  I thought this organized grid shaped stencil would be perfect for what I had in mind.

I used my Silhouette to cut a frame out of a 12×12 piece of cardstock with 9 squares cut out of it.  Using a couple scrap pieces of the negative cardstock and green tinted molding paste, I stenciled a few leaves.

I used a variety of Distress Ink, spray mists and molding pastes to create different patterns with that grid stencil, utilizing both the 12×12 and the smaller 6×6 in the same pattern.

I added the molding paste leaves and a couple stamps I punched out to add interest and dimension.  I also added some alpha stickers into the center square for my title.

I thought the repeated shapes in the stencil went well with the elements in the salad and complimented the photos without taking away from the vibrant pictures.

Here is the final layout.  I added stitching in both a straight stitch and zigzag pattern randomly around the page.  I added a couple geometric cork pieces, a date stamp and description to finish it off!

CoUgar waLk - Scrapbook Circle June

Hello friends!  I haven't been blogging very consistently since the kids got out of school.  Summer seems to be either slow and everyone's "so bored" or we are flying 90 mph through planned activities!  At any rate, this is the first page I made using the Scrapbook Circle June 'Now or Never' kit.

The photo is from the last day of my daughter's 6th grade year!  The photo is silly and funny, just like these girls and I wanted to make something loose and fun to fit the mood!  This LO took only about 30 minutes, cutting everything with scissors, or tearing the edges of some patterned paper.

I chose a couple tags and stickers that had similar colors and clustered them all together.  I used the alpha stickers on top of the Pretty Little Studio gold labels and stitched through them.  I didn't think about it too much, choosing which ever piece I grabbed first.  Making it look random, since it was! ;)

I added some splatters of black India Ink and that was it!

This is the kind of project that I love to create, simple, quick and enjoyable for me!  Sometimes, we get so caught up in techniques or wanting to make this perfect that it takes the fun out of it.  I need to remind myself of that...often, in life as well!

2015 - Scrapbook Circle January Product Challenge

Hi there!  Happy weekend to everyone!
Just wanted to share quickly this LO I did for the Scrapbook Circle trend challenge inspired by the "Sweet Life" calendar paper by Maggie Holmes.  Perfect opportunity for a birthday page!  I used the January "Fresh Start" main kit and the "Shine Bright" Add-on.

I decided to use almost the entire paper, adding a border at the right side of red patterned paper.  I knew I wanted to add some photos from my son's birthday and since they are all candid or action photos, they could be small.  I used several of the Fancy Pants ephemera die cuts pack to layer underneath each picture.

I added these large vellum numbers from Studio Calico across the center of the background.  I love the vellum and chose colors to contrast the red and greys.  Finally, I stitched thru several strips of the vellum and other framed bits, mostly to secure everything in place.

Since it is still January, I think months and the "year in review" pages are still very much appropriate!

Hi there!  This post is late for a Thursday morning, but better late than never!?!
I needed a little creative therapy for just me, this was the result...and I filmed the process too! :)

I have an entire tray of some of my favorite products, some bits of left over favs and a few new products just begging for attention!  I used this gorgeous floral die cut from The Cut Shoppe, cut from watercolor paper and painted it to match my daughter's p.j.'s and some of the papers.

I used some Lawn Fawn dies to cut out a couple pieces from the Dear LIzzy Derendipity collection.

Layered with lots of other bits and pieces, sequins, stickers, gold polka dot vellum and doilies.

I love creating pages like this and it is part of my need for this hobby!

A Mini Album + New Video series - #tbt

Hi everyone!  I am excited to share a new idea for a video series I am going to do called #tbt!
I will focus on products way, WAY back in my stash and combine them with newer
products from the same manufacturer or designer.

While filing away the giant stack of scrapbook layouts after Christmas, I started sifting through lots of old idea books and looking through a lot of my all time fav inspiring scrappers.  When I first began scrapping, vellum and acetate were pretty popular as well as script stamps and titles.  They have come full circle and back into popularity.  It made me look back at some of my products and tools that I have hoarded since then, and happy I did!  With all that in my head, I decided to finally finish this mini album I started for my daughter.

My first focus for this series is Heidi Swapp.  I love her style, always have!  She had word phrase roller stamps 9+ years ago and her new collections are so innovative and amazing.

This is the opening page in the album and a hidden journaling card that starts to describe the premise of the book.  I pulled about 5 different patterns of paper from September Skies and Mixed Company, white cardstock, her Project Life set with watercolor and color magic die cut tags, some of her mistable and die cut embellishments, vellum, doilies, and 2 rolls of washi.  I wanted to keep it simple and stick to a color palette of white, pink, turquoise, yellow and gold.  I printed all my photos in black and white, to make them pop against all these colors.

I misted on the 4x6 color magic cards and watercolored the 2x3 die cut cards.

I used plain white shipping tags and used a variety of older stamps, newer stencils

and just paint to add a little background pattern to my journaling.

I painted the edges of all the tags with gold paint to make them stand out a bit

and backed at least one page with a layer of dry embossed vellum.

I thought the vellum was a great way to tone down the color in the teal but still be able to read the words.

I used a few of Heidi's mini stamps here and there.  I also rounded most
of the corners, since her Project Life kit has all rounded corners.

I used a gold doily on this last page and wrote directly on the page.

The cover of the album was done about 9 months or so ago and the process video of it is below!
