happy - Scrapbook Circle December One Item Wonder

Wednesday, December 30, 2015

My challenge for the December One Item Wonder assignment was to use this gorgeous pink ombre, gold foil striped paper from Pebbles.  Using the 'Tell Your Story' kit I created the layout below.
happy_SBC_Dec 2015 border
I started by cutting the paper into quarters and “tiled” the background, placing two squares horizontally and two vertically.  I wanted to get the most out of the paper and not cover up too much with the large black and white photo I used.

I printed the photo in black & white to let the various pinks and golds take center stage.  Adding several of the 3x3 Pebbles cards and die cut frames from Basic Grey helped create more layers clustered around the photo.  I stitched around the outside of the pink square tiles reminding me a little of a quilt.

right now - Come On Get Crafty DT Sketch Challenge

Friday, February 20, 2015

The new February Sketch is up at Come One Get Crafty today!
It is a super cool sketch by new DT Coordinator Danielle Higginbottom-Brown...
very inspiring!  This is my take and the sketch below.

I decided to use the circle as a ring instead of a solid piece, sewing lots of embellishments to it.

I took the large gold butterfly stickers from Pebbles Home+Made collection and punched
a smaller butterfly out of It...giving me 2, and a butterfly outline.  I thought it
looked pretty fun and a great contrast to the black!

I used one of the large cards from Elle's Studio Penelope collection for my daughter to write her current favs!

be sure link your own sketch for a chance to win a prize!
Thanks for stopping by today!  Have an amazing weekend and stay warm! :)

TICKLE - Come On Get Crafty: Everyday. Life. Documented.

Tuesday, November 4, 2014

Hi there everyone!  I am excited to share my version of a Project Life page.
Although I don't do a specific album dedicated to record our everyday activities,
I do take lots of photos throughout our days and evenings.
These are some of those pics I took with my phone of my son during a particular giggling fit he had!

I wanted to use this yellow cut apart piece from Bella Blvd. with the sun rays, perfect for Project Life.
I chose some other Bella Blvd. papers and stickers to go along.  The sun rays and colors
also made me remember this 12x12 mask from Studio Calico I have not used in ages.
I tried to radiate the colors from red to orange to yellow and add a bright, happy
color to the greys and kraft neutral pieces I used as the background.

I also added a few stickers from the Pebbles Jen Hatfield collection that I could use with everything...
perfect for little accents, golds, black, sentiments and great fonts.
The Crate Paper kraft stickers are perfect to tie in a bit of gold too.
I have been hoarding these Wood Veneer pieces from Kelly Purkey, for BasicGrey,
but used this round one with some distress ink to compliment the red & orange.

Thanks for stopping by the Blog today!
Have an amazing day!

this little light - Come On Get Crafty Product Showcase

Saturday, October 18, 2014

Hi there crafters! I wanted to share a layout I made inspired by the Gold Foil Paper from Pebbles, brand
new to the Come On Get Crafty shop!  It is gorgeous and inspiring...perfect for this photo of my son with a sparkler.

I love gold, all of the gold trend, glittery, smooth and sparkly!  I previously used this gold foil paper to die cut sentiments for cards and thought I would use it in reverse too; as the backing behind a die cut title.  We had a neighborhood party recently, and not out of any other cause to celebrate, but neighbors, friends and left over sparklers!  Is there anything better as a kid?  It is a little piece of magic that last 45 seconds, maybe a minute, and sometimes offers a fabulously captured photo.

I wanted the title and gold to be the focus, so I used some chalkboard paint over a piece of Imaginisce Wood Grain paper.  I knew I wanted my journaling to really pop, like the sparkler, so chalkboard paint was the answer.  I used a few other embellishments under my photo like the Crate Paper Vellum Overlays, a Dear Lizzy tag, a couple additional pieces from the Jen Hadfield 'Homemade' Pebbles collection and some Enamel Dots from Freckled Fawn.

I love using lots of little bits and pieces, but sometimes, it needs to be all about the gold!
Thanks for stopping by today and hope you all have an amazing, sparkly day!

SUNDAY PAPER - Come On Get Crafty October sketch

Wednesday, October 15, 2014

Good morning!  Just wanted to post this page I did last week, using the Come On Get Crafty
sketch for October.  You can find the sketch below and see the original post HERE!

I printed out a mask/background on my Silhouette Cameo and misted it using several colors of brown.
I wanted the Woodgrain background paper to show up but still be able to read the letters as well.

I picked some other Wood Veneer pieces from Basic Grey, new to the shop and wrote my
journaling on several of the Crate Paper Kraft Stickers that are also new.

So stitching and Enamel Dots finished it up!

Check out some of the other DT takes on the sketch and link up  your page with to the Blog for a chance to win a
$5 credit to the store!  You have until October 25th and there is some fabulous new product, so get crafty!
Have an amazing day!

love this DAY - Come On Get Crafty...A Few of My Favorites

Sunday, October 5, 2014

This is the page I did last week for my blog post at Come On Get Crafty.

In our constant budget conscious life, fresh flowers are a luxury, (as are new scrapbook products) but in September where almost every woman in our family has a birthday, flowers are abundant!  It is glorious and sometimes feels excessive, but always makes me smile to see them brighten a room!

Not to mention, the Chipboard Frames from Crate Paper that have become a favorite staple to add a small accent or dominate a page by over use, like this! :)  To balance out the dark centers of the sunflowers, I used one of the Chalkboard Label Stickers from Pebbles behind one of these frames.  The layered my die cut title that I watercolored to match my photos.   I added several of those Accent Stickers on top of the chipboard frames and at a cluster at the top of the page.

The Wood Veneer leaf from the Basic Grey collection by Kelly Purkey I anchored in place with some yellow jute twine.  I stitched several lines through both the frames and the top and bottom borders of the page to add texture and make sure the embellishments stayed in place.  Some gold droplets of paint can never be a bad thing!

Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope this has inspired you document some favorites of your everyday blessings!
Have an amazing day!

GRIN. Come On Get Crafty

Tuesday, September 30, 2014

I don't do project life, but I do lots and lots of pages documenting the routine of our life at the moment.  I have a generic album for these type of layouts alone, one for my son, one for my daughter and then one for all of us.  Those albums are the most fun for me to flip through and remember things that were such a big part of our lives through all the stages of my children's lives, and the never ending renovation of our home!

I do use my phone all the time and sometimes I seem to capture the best candid shots of my kids, doing things we do everyday, eating, reading, playing outside, etc.  These are two recent photos of my son, with his gummy grin, and I just love it!  I lots of leftover papers, but hid that fact, by cutting them into strips or placing my photos over cut out pieces.  And adding some gelatos on top of that.

I made a cluster in the center using lots of Accent Stickers from the new Jen Hatfield collection for Pebbles
called 'Homemade.'  It is gorgeous!!  Lots of gold glitter and lovely colors with black to contrast.
I also used one of the Kraft Label Stickers from Crate Paper, from another amazing collection!
And topped it off with one of the Wood Veneers from Kelly Purkey for Basic Grey.

One of the things I love about Fall is seeing (and using, i.e. buying) all the new products
that were released at Summer CHA!  The store has lots of these new pieces!
Check it out HERE as well as the Blog for more inspiration!

Thanks for stopping by and have an amazing last day of September!!
