@ 42 - Scrapbook Circle August Kit

Sunday, September 20, 2015

Still playing a little catch up from August!
This was another page I made using the Scrapbook Circle August 'Make It Happen' kit and 'You Shine' Add-on.

I had made this collage of 4 photos from Shawn's birthday we celebrated at the beach.  I printed the collage out at 5x5 and layered on top of several papers from the Studio Calico 6x6 pad I trimmed down.

I decided to keep a super stark color palette of black and whites with a pop of yellow from the Fancy Pants die cut numbers. I also added a couple pops of teal from some Elle's Studio bits.

I trimmed the black cardstock background to mount onto another piece of black and white patterned paper from Pinkfresh Studio.  I love using a white gel pen on black paper!

Thanks for stopping by today.  Hope you have an amazing Sunday and start to another week!

Sun-kissed - Scrapbook Circle August Kit

Tuesday, September 1, 2015

Happy September Everyone!  One of my favorite months of the year...love the beginning of Fall.

I thought it would be appropriate to share a layout from last month as a goodbye to summer.
I used the Scrapbook Circle 'Make It Happen' main kit and the 'Shine On' Add-on from August.

I used two large pictures from our last beach trip with the August kits.  This is one of my favorites.
I kept it simple adding a couple different patterns to the right side and stitching them down.

I loved the colors and saying of this transparency from Pinkfresh Studio and thought it was perfect to overlay on the photo.  The gold sequin sticks from Crate Paper are to die for!!  I thought of them as little waves around my title.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Beautiful - Scrapbook Circle August Kit Challenge

Monday, August 31, 2015

Back to school is always a super crazy time for anyone with kids.
I have so many projects and layouts to post, but have been so busy trying to get back into the swing of things I haven't had time.  This page was posted on the Scrapbook Circle Blog last week for a One Item Wonder assignment using this angled paper from Studio Calico.

I used a couple full size 8-1/2 x 11" photos for August and thought this was a perfect place to use it.  I wanted to keep the photo large for the full effect but that the contrasting colors worked great with the grays in the One Item Wonder paper.

I used a couple of other translucent pieces from Pinkfresh Studio, part of the 'Shine On' Add-On and a label for the date.  I used my white gel pen on top of the photo for my journaling. I love embellishment but this photo said it all!

Thanks for checking out the blog today.
Hoping to get back on a more regular posting schedule now!

Relaxing - Scrapbook Circle DT Choice August

Friday, August 21, 2015

Earlier this week I shared this quick, fun layout on the Scrapbook Circle Blog.  I used the August ‘Make It Happen’ Main kit and the ‘You Shine’ Add-on.Relaxing_SBC_Aug 2015 border
I had this photo from our last vacation and immediately paired it with the Pinkfresh Studio gold vellum cards and the Studio Calico 6×6 pad.  I love the simple graphics of the vellums and added the gold sequin heart and star glitter sticker from Scrapbook Circle.

I love the movement in the water and that inspired me to watercolor the white cardstock background.  I wanted to switch it up a bit by using yellow & hot pink watercolors and layered a photo cluster on top.  I adhered the base down to another piece of cardstock and grunged it up by sewing the edges and distressing the edges.

Scrapbook Circle Be Real - Love & lotsa layers

Monday, August 17, 2015

Hello there!
Today I am sharing my layout for the 'Be Real' post for Scrapbook Circle.  I used both the main 'Make It Happen' kit and the 'You Shine' Add-on for August.
LOVE_SBC_Aug 2015 final
The 'Be Real' assignment is to use either an Instagram photo, a Project Life page, or both!  I used an Instagram from our last vacation.  The lighting wasn't that great in the original, so I printed it in black and white.  I have been drooling over the gold sequin stickers from Crate Paper and thought they made a beautiful contrast to the photo and color palette.
LOVE_SBC_Aug 2015 (7)
I used a piece of the Studio Calico 6x6 pad from the Add-on as the photo mat and built up a cluster of embellishments, tags and stickers to the right of the photo.  I cut a strip of paper from a Pinkfresh Studio paper and then layered my pieces on top, grouping like colors together.  I used this polka dot piece of patterned paper from Elle's Studio for my background and then matted it all onto dark charcoal cardstock.  I added lots of stitching for texture and loved the way it turned out!

LOVIN' LIFE - Scrapbook Circle August Sketch Challenge

Tuesday, August 11, 2015

Hi everyone!
The August Sketch Challenge for Scrapbook Circle inspired this layout using the new
'Make It Happen' kit and lots of this months exclusive pieces included in the kit.

Ch

The sketch is below or you can click HERE for the original link to the Scrapbook Circle post.

I used the stripes in my son's shirt to inspire some horizontal layers of different patterned papers and embellishments. The wood veneers are part of the exclusives from Scrapbook Circle.
The title piece, journaling tag and more are part of the printables.

Check out the challenge on the blog for your chance to win!

Thanks for stopping by.  Have an amazing day!

away we go - Scrapbook Circle 'Be Real' Instagram Photos

Monday, September 1, 2014

I didn't get a chance to post this earlier and now it is September 1st!  SO hard to believe!

This is the layout featuring lots of Instagram photos from our summer vacation and the August Scrapbook Circle kit – Island Paradise andTiki-Torch & Bungalow Add-ons.  Between my husband and I, we took 848 photos on our trip to Britain!  I have LOTS to scrap!

I know I will never be able to scrap all our photos, and there were so many good ones!
I basically printed a contact sheet in Photoshop, using 36 photos.  I wanted a neutral background to mount the frames as a “mat,” and to not take away from the photos too much!

I used the Scrapbook Circle cork labels, part of the main kit, for my journaling and other details, perfect for a trip!

Heidi Swapp's glitter sticker was a great match to the patterned paper I used to border the whole page.

There is so much new, fun stuff coming up in September, projects, cards, blog hops!
Stay tuned and have an amazing day!

RIGHT now - Scrapbook Circle Designer's Choice

Sunday, August 24, 2014

This is the page I shared on Scrapbook Circle yesterday and the last using the 'Island Paradise' kit and Add-ons from August.  I LOVE this Allison Kreft paper from Echo Park.  It is my color du jour and add some bokeh = love.

I wanted to keep as much of this paper without covering it up as possible.  It is such a beautiful design and the color is stunning.  One of my favorite reasons for buying the extra paper pack that is offered from Scrapbook Circle is for this reason.  I could use the same piece of the same paper to overlap specific pieces I punched out.

The exclusive 'happy day' stamp fit perfectly into my 1" circle punch.
I inked the edges of both the circle and heart to tie in the other colors.

After lining up the hearts I had punched from one piece with the matching piece of paper I cut,
I stitched through them on my sewing machine.  The Heidi Swapp glitter stickers add some sparkle
without taking too much away from that bokeh paper.

Thanks for checking it out!

SOMEWHERE - Scrapbook Circle August Sketch & Pinkfresh Studio Prize!

Saturday, August 16, 2014

There is a new sketch challenge at Scrapbook Circle and it is, as usual, it is super inspiring!
I looked at this sketch and thought the horizontal strips would be perfect for a rainbow of colors.
There are so many vivid colors in the August 'Island Paradise' kit.  And I had the perfect photo to use!

Here is the sketch below and you can find the original post HERE along with lots of
great interpretations from the rest of the design team.

I chose my colors for the rainbow stripes to match the colors of spray mist I had.
I misted groups of the wood veneer sequins from Chic Tags that were part of the
'Tiki Torch' Add-on in those colors in the six colors.

I chose some embellishments from both Add-ons kits and the main kit and added the
like colors elements to the same colored strips.

I used the Scrapbook Circle August stamp to get lime green color I
wanted and that would match my mist and flair.

The prize for this challenge is the current Limited Edition kit from Pinkfresh Studio!
It is an amazing collection of stamps, canvas pockets, a metal die and so much more!
Definitely a fabulous prize! :)

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you get crafty and join this challenge!
The challenge ends at 11:59pm on August 27th.
You can upload your LO based on the sketch to either the post on the Scrapbook Circle Blog
or to our Facebook page!  Have a great weekend!

Love Is All You Need - Scrapbook Circle Designer's Choice

Wednesday, August 13, 2014

Today on the Scrapbook Circle Blog, I am sharing this LO about using inspiration from text,
script and most especially patterned papers using song lyrics.  The source of my inspiration
is this love script paper from Echo Park-Capture Life that is in the August ‘Island Paradise’ kit.
I also used both the Tiki Torch’ and ‘Bungalow’ Add-ons.

Even if I have photos and a plan for a scrapbook page, I draw inspiration from the colors or composition
in the photo and most especially the patterns of the paper. I love papers with text, typography and print.
I also love music making the title and theme for this page an easy.

This was actually a photo I had already printed for scrapping and thought a simple, bold, color palette
would work well with the photo. My husband took the photo walking behind us and I never saw it until
I downloaded all the photos off of his phone.  It makes me smile and a little sad that one day,
my little man won't want to hold my hand.  Sniff...

The map print paper from Crate Paper was perfect for vacation photos, and provided
a neutral background. I placed the wood veneer sequins on the cities and intersecting
lines on the map, to emphasize the idea of travel, or destination.

The ‘sounds’ in the Elle’s Studio tag also emphasized my theme.  And I cut this title from my Silhouette.
I know the Beatles song is actually "All You Need Is Love," but I thought this cut file was too perfect.
I wrapped the twine around the entire photo/mat cluster I created, sort of holding us all
together. That may sound like a stretch of symbolism for a simple scrapbook page,
but I love this song, and it inspired lots of love in me!

Thanks so much for sharing a piece of your day with me!

hello summer - Scrapbook Circle One Item Wonder

Friday, August 8, 2014

This is the first of the projects I made using the Scrapbook Circle August kit "Island Paradise."
I also used both Add-ons - "Tiki Torch" and "Bungalow" as well as one of the digi cuts.
My assignment for this project was to use the Basic Grey 'Grand Bazaar' papers together and
show a combination of the patterns together.  I was a little wary of this assignment because
even though I love combining patterns, these are very strong graphics, individually,
much less combined with other patterns.

After deciding this was the photo I wanted to use, I chose these from the Basic Grey patterned papers included in the main August kit.  I loved the contrast of the yellow with the blue skies and chose the Byzantine pattern print to act as bookend borders for the main background.  It was still very bright and almost distracting,
but layering with a piece of vellum toned it down enough to accomplish what I wanted.  It also allowed me to bring in other colors with the Scrapbook Circle printables and kit included tags.

I cut lots of different sized pieces from the digicut files, watercolored some and misted the negatives.
I thought they looked a bit like sunbursts and would help break up all the sharp lines of the patterns in the papers.  After painting the pieces I cut on my Silhouette, I stitched through all of the layers  to match the pattern of the background piece.

The new exclusive corkboard pieces from Scrapbook Circle are awesome and I loved this large
title piece and texture it brought to a page about the beach!  I added lots of the vellum stickers
from Heidi Swapp and Elle's Studio tags as accents.

Thanks for stopping by today and make sure you check out the August kit and the
other Scrapbook Circle DT pages in the Idea Gallery.

Have an amazing day!

I think it is such a cute sketch and love the patterns and all the ways it could be interpreted!
You can find the link to the PageMaps post HERE!

After looking a the sketch and choosing these photos, I knew I wanted lots of color and flowers!
The diamond pane windows in the first photo looks almost navy in color,
so I used that paper from Basic Grey with the repeating diamond patterns.

I used a couple of the chipboard frames from Crate Paper, as well as the other chipboard pieces from Basic Grey, all part of the Tiki Torch Add-on.  I stitched some of the chipboard letters from Basic Grey for part of my title.

My journaling is written on one of the Scrapbook Circle exclusive Tags.
I finished by embellishing with other pieces from the Add-ons, including flair from
American Crafts, Heidi Swapp stickers and the heart die cut from Elle's Studio.
