yes. - Scrapbook Circle May

Friday, May 29, 2015

Another project using the May Scrapbook Circle 'Hello Sunshine' and the 'Hello Love' Add-on!
I'm a day late in posting this, but this sweet kid with my daughter had a birthday and is
one of my favorite little people!

This was just a fun, coming together real quickly LO that was done after
completely DT assignments.  And it turned out to be one of my favs.

I am in love with the Pink Paislee acetate overlays, especially this gold citrus slice piece.

I added piles of layers and mists, random stitching and embellishments, but the photo is still
dominant because of the colors in it.  The black of the Scrapbook Circle glitter phrase sticker
is such a stark contrast that stands out as well, adding some India ink only ties them all together.

Thanks for stopping by, hope everyone has a great weekend and a
happy happy birthday to this special little man!!

REPORT TODAY - Scrapbook Circle May Sketch

Tuesday, May 19, 2015

I you are looking for the Anniversary Blog Hop, click HERE!

I wanted to share my take for the May Scrapbook Circle Sketch challenge using the
'Hello Sunshine' main kit and the 'Hello Love' Add-on.

One of my favorite aspects of a sketch is the suggestions of how many photos to use.
That is the first step I take and it usually flows from there!  This is the sketch below or
you can get out the original post and how the other DT members pages turned out HERE

After deciding to use these 2 photos of my son working his "book report poster" I chose
the ruled paper and used a notebook edge punch to add a school feel to it.  I also used the
photos to help chose the color palette of teals, greys and black with a splash of yellow.

I adore the Kraft tags from Amy Tan that have white ink doodles on them.

As usual the monthly sketch was my first LO to create after sifting thru my kit.  It jump
starts my creative mojo and generates lots of ideas for using the other pieces of the kit!

Thanks for stopping by today!  Hope you have an amazing day!

Scrapbook Circle Anniversary BLOG HOP!!

Monday, May 18, 2015

Hi there everyone!!
This month we are celebrating Scrapbook Circle's 9th Anniversary!

To celebrate, this week we are doing a blog hop around to the design team members' blogs to showcase all the fun things we have created with the May Hello Sunshine Kit.

The hop starts at the Scrapbook Circle blog.
Comment along your way while visiting the other team members' blogs. Each comment will be one entry in a
random drawing where we will be giving away FIVE May Hello Sunshine Kits...five kits!  Hello...?!!

This is the LO I created layering several of the Pink Paislee Citrus Bliss Insta embellishments.

I used one of the frames layered with a transparency for my journaling.  Another one was for the title (there were three even though the photos only show 2) and then as mats for my photos.  I used lots of the Scrapbook Circle exclusives from the kit, including the foil cards and the glittered phrase sticker.

I added lots of other embellishments...the more the better on this page!  Finally, I stitched
thru all the frames adding texture and an interactive element for the journaling.

That's it for my page!  We hope you feel inspired today!
Comments close at midnight PST on May 21.
We will post the winners on the Scrapbook Circle blog on May 22.

Next up is the awesome Gina Lideros!!

As a reminder, here is the order for the blog hop:

Scrapbook Circle - Creative Team Member Interview

Thursday, May 14, 2015

Scrapbook Circle is celebrating it's 9th anniversary this month!
The DT members were asked to create a layout of our choice using the May Hello Sunshine kit
and to answer a few questions about our process and the page we created.

This is my project and the Q&A that was posted this week!

Q: Tell us about your scrapbook page. What does it mean to you?
A: The photograph on my page captures the light through our windows den at sunset.  The leaded glass cast the most amazing light refractions across the ceiling and walls.  This scrapbook layout means a lot to me because it documents all the hard work my husband and I have done in our home!  As architects, and sometimes frustrated architects, we use our home as our creative outlet.  We have almost finished renovating our retro mod ranch from top to bottom over the last 8 years.  After seeing this amazing dark wood grain paper from Chickaniddy Crafts I knew I wanted to document some piece of our house.  The name of the paper is appropriately called ‘Weekend Wonder!’

Q: What is your favorite, go-to technique when creating your pages?
A: I love layers and layering…the more the better!  It is a way for me to add lots of color and details to draw you into a page.  I almost always sew parts of the embellishments or paper to the background.  I love the subtle texture sewing adds as well as permanently adhering those pieces to the page.
Q: What’s the first thing you do when your kit arrives?
A: The first thing I do when my kit arrives is do a happy dance! Winking smile  After that, I sift through all the papers and sort them by the pattern I will most likely use.  Obviously, having the extra paper kit helps make this easier.  I also print out the exclusive monthly printables on white cardstock to keep with the patterned paper.

Q: If you could design the next Scrapbook Circle project kit (like this one, or this one),
what would it be?
A: I would LOVE to put together a kit, but it would be so hard to narrow things down!  I can’t wait to see more of the new Dear Lizzy ‘Fine & Dandy’ collection…just looking at it makes me smile.  I am super excited about the new Project Kits that are being offered and would love to put one together for party décor or art journaling!

Q: What do you love most about Scrapbook Circle?
A: Scrapbook Circle holds a special place in my heart because I was an avid subscriber before being on the design team.  After doing lots of research before committing to a monthly kit subscription, I loved the diversity and focus that Scrapbook Circle has without being overly complicated.  The DT and subscribers are laid back, talented and most importantly supportive!

Thanks for stopping by and letting me share a peek into my creative process!
Have an amazing day!

National Scrapbook Day - Scrapbook Circle Instagram Round Robin!

Saturday, May 2, 2015

Hi there!  Happy National Scrapbooking Day!!  I haven't had a chance to be crafty today,
but I am still counting tomorrow!  This is the fun round robin we are having at Scrapbook Circle!
Start at the Scrapbook Circle Instagram page and go from there!!

I made a collage of all the instagrams we have taken in our garden so fare this Spring.
I loved all the hot pink, it went perfectly with our lilies!

I only had 7 photos so I used the blank spots for the tag and journaling.

I used an old Scrapbook Circle stencil to add some pattern to the background cardstock.
I masked out the shape of a large heart and painted a light wash of watercolor on first,
then used lots of Distress Ink in greens...

Thank for stopping by!  Have an awesome creative Saturday!

MERRY - Scrapbook Circle December

Monday, December 29, 2014

Another one of my layouts using the December ‘Made of Stories’ kit and
the ‘Favorite Elf’ Add-on from Scrapbook Circle.

I knew I wanted to use the colors that are part of the Elle's Studio Christmas collections, especially with this photo.
The picture was taken after Christmas, but was a belated celebration with our dear friends.
I started with a light water color wash on the white cardstock and just played with layers on top of it.

The kit included this grey polka dot baggie and I tucked a tag into it with my journaling.

I punched a few snowflakes from the 6x6 pad to tuck here and there.

I love the different, non-traditional colors that are included in the kit.  It's refreshing to change things up!
Thanks for stopping by today come back tomorrow for the last project using the December kit.

Christmas JOY - Scrapbook Circle December

Sunday, December 28, 2014

Today I am sharing one of my layouts using the December ‘Made of Stories’ kit and the ‘Favorite Elf’ Add-on from Scrapbook Circle.  It was on their Blog yesterday, which you see HERE.

This gold striped vellum from Crate Paper is my favorite piece of the December kit by far.  I didn’t want to take too much away from it so this was a very quick layout.  The diagonals in the vellum inspired me to divide the page in half at an angle.

I used the gold glitter phrase stickers for my title to help balance out the heaviness of the left side.
I heat embossed the exclusive December stamp onto vellum and trimmed it out for a little cluster left of the photo.

I used one of the 6×6 papers from the Add-on as a mat under my photo and then began layering on top of it with the tag, title and a doily.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today, another layout share tomorrow!

MERRY CHRISTMAS - Scrapbook Circle December

Saturday, December 27, 2014

Hi there!  This is one of the 6+ pages I made using the December 'Made of Stories' Scrapbook Circle kit.
I decided that this page would just be crammed full of eye candy; embellishments, patterns and the photos!
I wanted to include some of the photos of our Christmas that aren't part of my December Daily but are still just everyday photos.

I die cut the title using the Scrapbook Circle December Banner Digi Cuts onto watercolor paper and painted them to match some of the patterns they were layered onto.  I also enlarged the original digi size to make the title larger.

I love that the photo of our Christmas Eve table has the kids' milk glass on it!

I did 7+ projects using the December kit because it was so inspiring and diverse in colors and patterns!
I will be posting the rest of them every day for the rest of the month.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have an amazing day!

(Christmas) WISH - Scrapbook Circle One Item Wonder

Wednesday, December 24, 2014

Hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday!
We have been so crazy busy with Christmas activities and I haven't had much of a
chance to blog anything.  Just when school let out and I started to catch up I spent 2 days
in bed with strep.  Feeling better now and ready to celebrate the end of December and
the New Year making up for the last week of sickies!

This is my layout from Scrapbook Circle's One Item Wonder using the "Made of Stories"
December kit with the focus on the Chickaniddy enamel stars.

You can see the original post HERE as well as the awesome Guest Designer, Gail Linder's layout.

My son was born a month early on the 21st of December...it was a stressful time but was one of my most amazing blessings.  He says he loves having a birthday close to Christmas because everyone is celebrating and all together.  Amazing how it takes a kid to put things into perspective.

I decided to use the stars not for Christmas but for embellishments about a birthday.  I made a grid
using pictures of each birthday candle wish...using the stars and silver numbers to label each birthday.

I can't wait to add an 8 yr. old follow up page next to this layout and seeing the changes
that 12 months make in my favorite Christmas present!

Thanks for stopping by and have a safe and happy holiday!!

HEY YOU there! - Scrapbook Circle October Kit

Tuesday, October 28, 2014

I am sharing another layout using the October ‘On This Day’ kit & the ‘Right Now’ Add-on from Scrapbook Circle.
HEY YOU there!_SBC_Oct 2014 border
The October kit isn’t theme based for Halloween, but the colors are perfect for Fall and in this case great for a masculine page.  The exclusive Scrapbook Circle triangle stamps inspired me to make a banner, much like the Mood Board from September.  The cork banner from Elle’s Studio also inspired me to cut these a large banner shapes as the matte for the photo.
HEY YOU there!_SBC_Oct 2014 (8)
One of the things I love about Scrapbooking kits and collections around this time of year is that they remind us to focus on being thankful.  My favorite projects and pages are those that capture moments showing the blessings in our life, reminding us to be grateful now and then in the future looking back at a page like this.  This photo is of my husband and his college roommate/best man.  We don’t get to see and his wife that often, but when we do, it is a seamless return to the friendship that has lasted years…truly something to be thankful for.
HEY YOU there!_SBC_Oct 2014 (6)
I stamped lots of the triangle stamps with black,  trimmed them out and sewed them together.  The patterned paper from Fancy Pants with the triangular pattern was a great match and scale and for the banner.  The yellow ochres, cork paper and embellishments made it warm and Fall-ish.  I added some watercolor in the background to tie in those colors and stretch out the cluster a bit.
HEY YOU there!_SBC_Oct 2014 (4)
Banners and heart stamps shouldn’t be limited to birthdays, girls or other specific celebrations…how about just the celebration of life and friendship?!  I hope you all remember to document your everyday blessings…after all, isn’t that what is really important?  Have a wonderfully amazing day!

Scrapbook Circle - One Item Wonder - Stars*

Friday, October 17, 2014

Happy Friday everyone!
This is the LO I did for my Scrapbook Circle October assignment highlighting
the gold & silver chipboard stars, part of the 'On This Day' kit.

Stars are a great staple embellishments, especially for boys.  Stars are great for girls too, but I think of
butterflies and hearts for girls and stars as more masculine.  There are also enamel star stickers from Chickaniddy crafts that are part of the 'Right Now' Add-on kit.  I wanted to use these photos of my son with this giant Styrofoam plane, which has 5 lbs. of packing tape covering it (thank you Daddy) since it has crashed so many times!

I randomly cut pieces of patterned paper using just my scissors.  I wanted to make those strips the
background from my photos and have the stars and arrows "orbit" around whole cluster.
The Pinkfresh Studio wood veneer enamel chevron arrows are great because they pick up a bit
of the shine from the enamel as well as the colors from the rest of the embellishments

I constantly have my personal soundtrack, to my life, in my head and so the Coldplay Song
"A Sky Full of Stars" seemed to be a perfect fit.  This little man certainly does light up the path
with his smile, and he has had my heart since the moment I first saw him! :)

Thanks for stopping by to let me share this page and I hope you check out all the designs from
this talented group of ladies at Scrapbook Circle.  Head of to the Idea Gallery on the Blog!

Have an amazing day and great weekend!

triple TROUBLE - Scrapbook Circle October Designer's Choice

Thursday, October 9, 2014

Hi everyone!  It’s Jenni here to share one of my favorite pages I created using the Scrapbook Circle October Kit – ‘On This Day’ and the ‘Right Now’ Add-On.   There are so many schools of thought about design & color composition, I learned lots of them in college.  We all have heard and/or practice them…use odd numbers to keep elements dynamic, use color or embellishments to lead to your eye around the page and offer balance, yada, yada, yada.  No offense to my art and design teachers, I do agree, but lately have been drawn to use multiple hues of the same color and all in one area.  The October kit is perfect for this kind of design!

As usual, Lisa has done an outstanding job of pulling pieces from different collections that all work so well together.  This amazing painterly paper from Chickaniddy paired perfectly with the Echo Park days of the week paper in a rainbow of colors.  I wanted to use this photo of my daughter and some friends that came over for our Friday Night Movie night, so the days of the week was ideal!  After cutting the two background of papers at a diagonal, I layered my photo onto some of the Fancy Pants ‘True FRIEND’ 6×6 pad, part of the Add-On.

I then chose stickers, chipboard and punched some more from the 6×6 pad to match all the colors.  Again, all the embellishments are from different collections, but such a great match.  I layered the embellishments on top of a similar color in the paper and hid the sharp diagonal line of my two background patterns.  My husband came up with the title for me, very appropriate, although a little scary! ;)

Thanks for stopping by the blog today and letting me ramble about color grouping!  The October kit is a variety of so many patterns and colors that you need to check out Idea Gallery for the range of inspiration from the DT! Have a wonderful day!

HUG happy

Saturday, July 26, 2014

Here is a LO I did, just for me and for the Scrap Our Stash July Sketch.
I especially loved the sketch since I have been scrapping more single photos lately.

Here is the sketch by Rochelle Spears and the original post HERE.
The other part of the challenge was to use ribbon or trim.

I used lots of different collections, but was mostly inspired by the colors in the My Mind's Eye chipboard pieces.

I used a piece of ribbon trim from Making Memories...digging WAY back into my stash for that one!
I threaded it through a piece of chipboard I cut slits into.

Thanks for checking out the blog today!  Have an amazing weekend!
