The Crafter's Workshop September 2017 - Scrapping with Scraps!

Wednesday, September 27, 2017

Today I wanted to share a scrapbook layout I created using actual scraps for The Crafter's Workshop.  I seem to collect a stack of strips cut from various papers next to my paper trimmer.  I would normally throw them into the recycling bin, but decided instead to put them to use!
I used the two stencils below as well as the white, gold and two blues in the Heavy Body Acrylic paint and the White Modeling Paste.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

I gathered all the scraps, as you can see, they are mostly pieces cut from 12×12 pieces of cardstock.  I planned to scrap this photo of my daughter and our new puppy, named Blue, so I decided to create some patterned strips in varying colors of blue.I lined up several strips of the paper and added tape to one side keeping them in place, while I stenciled the paint onto them.I mixed together the blues and white paint to create several different shades and added Modeling Paste to give it a little more structure.I started applying the paint mixtures to the taped strips of cardstock. After the paint had all dried, I picked a few pieces to line up on the page.  I also used the leftover paint and cleaned my brush onto a couple strips to add a solid block of color.I can’t seem to create anything without using one of the gold media products these days.  So, I painted a stripe of the gold acrylic and a little more to the solid strips.I added machine stitching to the top of the painted strips of paper.Adding a few embellishments and a little description under the photo finished up my layout.
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope this inspired you to use some scraps in a creative, fun way!

CoUgar waLk - Scrapbook Circle June

Monday, June 13, 2016

Hello friends!  I haven't been blogging very consistently since the kids got out of school.  Summer seems to be either slow and everyone's "so bored" or we are flying 90 mph through planned activities!  At any rate, this is the first page I made using the Scrapbook Circle June 'Now or Never' kit.

The photo is from the last day of my daughter's 6th grade year!  The photo is silly and funny, just like these girls and I wanted to make something loose and fun to fit the mood!  This LO took only about 30 minutes, cutting everything with scissors, or tearing the edges of some patterned paper.

I chose a couple tags and stickers that had similar colors and clustered them all together.  I used the alpha stickers on top of the Pretty Little Studio gold labels and stitched through them.  I didn't think about it too much, choosing which ever piece I grabbed first.  Making it look random, since it was! ;)
I added some splatters of black India Ink and that was it!

This is the kind of project that I love to create, simple, quick and enjoyable for me!  Sometimes, we get so caught up in techniques or wanting to make this perfect that it takes the fun out of it.  I need to remind myself of that...often, in life as well!

Thanks for stopping by today and hopefully I will be back to a more regular posting schedule!
Have an amazing day!

DELISH - Scrapbook Circle October

Friday, October 30, 2015

Hi there!  Just wanted to share a quick layout I did using the Scrapbook Circle November kit, 'Mix Tape.'
This was a super fast page I put together just for me!

I adore this teal script paper from Bella Blvd. and wanted to keep the rest, simple and neutral.
I love that chartreuse green color with the teal.

The script card is one of a set of four that are Scrapbook Circle exclusives.
They are "mincable," although I don't have a machine...yet!

I added some brown ink along the edges of my papers to tie in the wood grain and cork.
This chipboard title 'DELISH' from Basic Grey was a perfect fit for a hot chocolate/coffee break!

Thanks for stopping by!  I have a Halloween LO and process video up tomorrow!!
And November stuff happening quickly after!

Have an amazing day!

Black & White Photos - Scrapbook Circle October Technique Challenge

Monday, October 19, 2015

Scrapbook Circle has a new challenge this month to use a black and white photo in your layout.
Or, like I did, print a color photo in black and white!  I love using this technique, especially to highlight paper or embellishments with lots of color, like those in the 'Mix Tape' October kit.

This gorgeous patterned paper from Bella Blvd. was almost too pretty to cut up, but I wanted to use a good bit of white space to help break up the color.  I didn't use a paper trimmer, just scissors to quickly trim the paper.  The black and white stripe is on the opposite side of this rainbow chevron.

I used a cloud punch on some of the Dear Lizzy 6x6 papers and to the Scrapbook Circle printable to add some coordinating colors around the page.  I added a couple other embellishments and word phrase strips to make little clusters of colors.

The little puffy stickers from Evalicious that are part of the main kit are so cute too!

The date tag was also from the Scrapbook Circle printable.  I trimmed a piece of this paper from Pink Paislee at the bottom for a place to add some journaling and the acrylic word 'thankful' that is another Scrapbook Circle exclusive for my title.

I love using this technique because it features the best of both worlds...lots of color that doesn't take away from the photo, but helps add contrast to a black and white picture!

This Technique Challenge, with an awesome prize from BasicGrey is going on until November 4th!  You can read the original post HERE and upload your layout to that post or to the Scrapbook Circle Facebook page!

yay! - Come On Get Crafty June sketch

Friday, June 26, 2015

Hi everyone!  The June Sketch for Come On Get Crafty was featured last week on the Blog and this is my take on it.  It is a little more chaotic than I planned but I was trying to use as many manufacturers as possible! ;)

Here is the sketch below...I made it a 12x12 since that is the size I mostly scrap.

I sprayed some mists on a sheet of acetate and smushed it on my white cardstock to add some color to the background...not that I ended up needing it, but I went with it!

I made a cluster using pieces of Crate Paper, BasicGrey, American Crafts, Pink Paislee, Elle's Studio, Bella Blvd. and Freckled Fawn!  How is that for lots of different products??

I love that journaling card from Crate Paper and I thought it looked good with the black and white pic!  And that is it!

Thanks for stopping by and check out the Come On Get Crafty Blog for the other DT members layouts using the June sketch!

Have an awesome weekend!

#boys will be boys - Come On Get Crafty

Friday, March 6, 2015

Happy Weekend!!
Today on the Come On Get Crafty Blog, I am sharing a page inspired by the sketch I drew!
This is a new Friday sketch challenge for the DT which I love!

I had these three photos printed out of my son and wanted to come up with a sketch to go with them.
I love scrapping pictures taken in rapid succession like this. Especially for a silly subject such as this one!
The title is a cut file from one of the workshops from Wilna Furstenburg.  I cut it out in two different
sizes and watercolored them to match the background painting I did.

This is the way I sketch ideas in my journal, so this is what I am sharing!  Using the stars,
I was suggesting paint splatters, stars, flowers, hearts, any sort of embellishment really.  I ended
up using both splatters and then added stars too.  I used papers and stickers from Bella Blvd. along
with a couple Silhouette die cut titles that I watercolored, coming up with a palette of blues and aquas.

I thought cutting the chevron paper into smaller strips, like arrows and then reversing them
added to the movement of the "light saber!" :)  I added wood veneer stars from Freckled Fawn
and a wood veneer card from Amy Tangerine under my journaling.

You can see the original Blog Post HERE!  The shop is filling up with lots of new goodies!
Thanks for stopping by today!  Have an amazing weekend!

right now - Come On Get Crafty DT Sketch Challenge

Friday, February 20, 2015

The new February Sketch is up at Come One Get Crafty today!
It is a super cool sketch by new DT Coordinator Danielle Higginbottom-Brown...
very inspiring!  This is my take and the sketch below.

I decided to use the circle as a ring instead of a solid piece, sewing lots of embellishments to it.

I took the large gold butterfly stickers from Pebbles Home+Made collection and punched
a smaller butterfly out of It...giving me 2, and a butterfly outline.  I thought it
looked pretty fun and a great contrast to the black!

I used one of the large cards from Elle's Studio Penelope collection for my daughter to write her current favs!

Check out the other DT members pages on the Blog HERE and
be sure link your own sketch for a chance to win a prize!
Thanks for stopping by today!  Have an amazing weekend and stay warm! :)

DOWNHILL...Come On Get Crafty - Everyday. Life. Documented.

Wednesday, January 14, 2015

Today is my day to post my version of Project Life for the Come On Get Crafty DT.  It doesn't
have to be Project Life, and since I don't do it, yet, I chose some everyday photos from the day after Christmas.

Sam got a "big boy bike" for his 8th birthday.  It could still take training wheels, but he doesn't need them anymore, thank goodness!  This bike, with no possibility of ever having training wheels (at least for Sam) was a special gift!

I printed out these photos taken in succession of our maiden voyage, the day after Christmas.
The weather has been so crazy, he was wearing short sleeves; part of the weather record to say the least!  I used the Crate Paper concentric genealogy chart paper and a piece of neutral cardstock as the background for my page.

I made a little cluster of layers underneath my 3 photos using a die cut from Dear Lizzy,
some Pink Pasilee paper and a shipping tag.  Adding some wood veneer pieces
to balance out colors and the horizontal photos and enamel dots, I finished the layout.

Thanks for stopping by today, check out the Come On Get Crafty Blog for the
current Mood Board Monday Challenge!
Have an amazing day!
