find your wings and FLy! & Video - Color Me Scrappy Challenge #48

Tuesday, October 15, 2013

This is the last challenge of mine as a DT member at the Color me Scrappy Blog.

The colors are so nice and Fall-ish but still warm and trendy with all the current collections on the market!
Check out the Color Me Scrappy Blog for the original post that shows all the amazing pages
the DT came up with HERE.

One of the things I love about their color challenges is that they are very thoughtfully chosen for the season
and trending embellishments and styles.  It makes it fun to put together pages, kind of gets you in the mood of the season!

Click on the video below to view my Start to Finish Process of this page or go to my YouTube Channel!

I used a pretty large range of supplies and products and things from a couple years ago to brand new collections.
This photo is a couple years old and of my daughter at a local park on top of a climbing rock.
She was the "Queen of the World", until she had to move so that her brother could be the "King of the World"
and then they both had to move for the next kiddo to be King or Queen!

My husband took this pic with the Hipstamatic App on his phone and I thought the effects were perfect
for a page about finding your wings...

I also included several travel based items, this airmail envelope, map prints, etc. to reinforce the idea of
getting out into the world...even though my daughter is nine, nine more will fly by in the blink of an eye!

I stamped on some feathers I die cut using my Silhouette and then distressed the edges a bit with ink.

I am all about adding watercolor to every page right now, it has taken the place of stitching it seems.

Thanks so much for stopping by and make sure to check out the CMS Challenge and participate!
The prize is a Mystery Bag...like a little early Christmas present! :)

I also want to thank Pam and Lisa and all the ladies on the Design Team for including me in
their talented group and becoming friends that I will keep up with through this journey of Scrapbooking!

#cheeeeeeesy & new VIDEO!

Saturday, October 12, 2013

This is a layout I did for this color challenge at the Scrapfriends Blog.
I love their challenges and especially their sketches, but these colors were so bright and so perfect for all the new products and some stash that have made their way into my scrap room...I have NO idea how that happened!

Anyway, you can check out their BLOG with this challenge and the current sketch challenge,
next on my to do list, or well, a little farther down than that...but still super inspiring!
I tried to revisit a series of videos I made, or started to make, where I timed myself to try to
finish a LO in 30-45 minutes.  Usually with a sketch, or some other starting point.
And this one started like that, but finished without any thought of time.
I started it late at night and you can see the process video below or click HERE for my YouTube channel.

I thought I could finish in about 35 minutes and when that time was up, I was tired and went to bed.
I finished up the next day and didn't time anything.  Probably in all, about 45-50 minutes, not sure.
At any rate, this was taken a week or so ago at a pizza place with a slice of the cheesiest pizza
ever, and the size of my daughter's head.  Since everything seems to be "hash tagged" these days, I though
that would make a clever title...probably would have used that hash tag if I had tweeted this!

My green is a little more green than the color in the palette that is really more chartreuse, but I think
it provides a good contrasting color with the pink.  I used gelatos for some of my stamping in the background
and I have never done that before.  I wasn't crazy about it at first, but the last stamp I did worked out okay.
I had planned for it to be like splats of marinara, but marinara isn't pink!  Loved that set of stamps though!

Thanks so much for checking the cheesy and have a great weekend!

LETTER for later & VIDEO...Scrap Our Stash October Challenge #8 - Tic Tac Toe

Wednesday, October 9, 2013

For this challenge, you will need to pick 3 stash items in a row and add to your layout.
These items MUST be pre-made/packaged from your stash.
Remember... the idea is to use up your stash! :)

I made a Start to Finish video showing my process for this layout.
Click below for the Video or you can go to my YouTube Channel as well.

I chose to use my tic-tac-toe in the diagonal from top right to bottom left which includes
chipboard, decorative pins and 5+ brads...lots of my stash fit into this category!

Lovely stash of October Afternoon and My Mind's Eye that was hiding in a drawer!

I decided to have a little album that I do a page for each of my children every 6 months or so
with a letter for them to read later...much later! ;)  About our lives right now, new experiences, growing pains, etc.!

I am seriously in love with this paper from Glitz...I had 3 pieces and only one left.

To be eligible for the prize drawing you must link up your project to the Scrap Our Stash Blog

Don't forget about the SOS Challenge GUIDELINES!

GOODBYE forty, HELLO forty-one. **PROMO Code!** Scrapbook Circle-'So Happy Together'

Tuesday, October 8, 2013

Another layout from the October Scrapbook Circle kit - So Happy Together.
Scrapbook Circle has a custom stencil included in the 'You and Me' Add-On kit this month
and it is an awesome design...they also have an exclusive stamp set and wood veneers!
All perfect tools for a mixed media background!
See the Scrapbook Circle Idea Gallery for other layouts of mine and the rest of the DT!

** Promo Code: jenni20off **

This promo is either a new subscription or a one time purchase, even for the add-on kits!
(it is however only good for the first use for newbies & add-ons & extras for current subscribers)
I can't get enough of all these companies putting out papers with the watercolor wash look.
I just took my watercolors and painted right off the edge of whatever color was next to it!
I thought the coffee stain stamp (not included in this kit) was appropriate,
but I couldn't figure out what a chanpagne flute stain would look like...?
Any opinions?  Please share! :)
I am thankful, for yesterday for tomorrow and mostly for the beauty of TODAY.
Thanks for sharing a bit of your day on my blog!  Have a good one!

LOVE THIS - Scrapbook Circle October Kit

Friday, October 4, 2013

This is one of the layouts I did with the October Scrapbook Circle Kit - So Happy Together:

Continuing in my quest to scrap then & now pages and making me a little sappy reminiscing as well,
this is of my daughter going to Mother's Day Out and then her first day of Fourth Grade!
There are so many pieces in this months kit that have the "LOVE THIS" phrase...and from multiple
companies...Pink Paislee, Crate Paper, American Crafts & lots and lots of hearts too.

I used pieces from the main kit as well as both Add-On kits (there was too much yumminess to ween it down) called "You and Me" and "Just Us".  There are lots of new additions that are Scrapbook Circle
exclusives, like stamps, wood veneers and a mask, as well as their printable files.

I stamped the large heart stamp from the new Dear Lizzy collection that is part of the You and Me Add-On
using a gold gelato spritzed with water.  It was a nice subtle backdrop and was more of a tone-on-tone
effect on this light kraft paper.  I also watercolored the Pink Paislee Color Wash tag in pink and yellow.

I punched lots of small hearts, and tiny hearts and stitched them down thru the middle so I could pop
up the sides and add dimension.  I made a line of banners down the left side of my photos using tags,
wood veneer a gold rub-on from Jenni Bowlin and lots of bits and pieces.

Even though there is a record number of patterns and products I still think that the photos stand
out enough...at least to me, since I am in shock at how fast those 7 years past by!
Seriously, don't blink!

Check out all the new release products included in the main kit & add-ons for the month of October.
And we love seeing what everyone creates on the Scrapbook Circle Facebook page, so share with
us there and we can share some love back!

the good stuff...Scrapbook Circle September Kit (a little late!)

Thursday, October 3, 2013

A layout I did for the DT Idea Gallery at Scrapbook Circle last month.
The post didn't go up on their blog until the end of September, so technically, I'm not too late! ;)
This was my "Designer's Choice" project and I chose to feature this lovely woodgrain
paper and all the cork in the September Kit-Photo Goes Here!

In the South we take college football very seriously and since it is that time of year, I thought this photo would be perfect to scrap!  Even though our team colors are not black, white or blue, I thought they would provide an awesome contrast to all the orange!  I had to keep that wood grain paper in one piece and sewed strips of the black and white strips & stars down to anchor my photo.
I used my Silhouette to die cut my title out of the cork paper included in the kit.
I wanted the title to tie in the cork arrows from Fancy Pants.
I loved the transparent frames from Basic Grey that are part of the September Add-On kit, appropriately called Snapshot!  Since my photo was a landscape pic I just tucked it under like a photo mat and used it to make a little subtitle.   Whether you love wood grain or SEC football, we would love to see your creations on the Scrapbook Circle Facebook page!  And check out how the other DT member used their cork and wood grain HERE…

Even though the October Kit is in full swing, there are still September Kits available!
Thanks for stopping by!

HB2U - Color Me Happy October Challenge #47

Wednesday, October 2, 2013

Getting into the spirit of Fall, this is my page for the Color Me Scrappy Challenge #47!

This is the color palette for this Challenge.

This is the awesome sketch by Lisa, which might become a staple of mine,
since I seem to gravitate to this arrangement anyway!

My husband gave me a very thoughtful gift for my birthday this year.  He had this gorgeous Japanese Maple planted outside our bedroom window.  We had to cut down a large Hickory tree in this spot in the Spring and have been talking about what we wanted...Just never got around to it!

I thought the changing leaves in this tree were perfect for the colors of this Challenge.
I used this lovely piece of faux watercolor effect paper from Pink Paislee and lots of die-cuts
from the new Crate Paper collection Flea Market.  I also used several pieces of previous
Scrapbook Circle Kits, which included October Afternoon, Basic Grey, Crate Paper & some
their own printable files!

Like I said, I am sure you will see this sketch again!
Let us see what you do with it too...participate in the Challenge by uploading your projects
using this sketch and color scheme HERE.  Can't wait to see what everyone does!
For the other inspiring projects from the other DT Members, check out the original post HERE!

Thanks for stopping by and Happy October!
