the LONG & WINDING ROAD

Monday, December 10, 2012

This photo was taken just a few days ago, on a scooter/bike ride we
went on on Veteran's Day, or the day observed as Veteran's Day.
It was a beautiful fall day, even though most of the leaves
are already past their colors, the grasses here were a nice golden shade.

It actually looks like we were all alone, but in fact the Greenway was
pretty crowded, just not at this bend.
I used the color scheme for a current challenge at Color-Me-Scrappy
that has a lovely palette of soft colors, kind of a nice break after
seeing all the reds and greens.
Here is the link to their post for Challenge #19:

I have said before that I love their challenges, because I love patterns
and color and combined things I would never have normally thought of before.
Plus, I can combine manufacturers in any way I want!
And it usually leads to some interesting ideas.

I didn't love this page at first, still not sure if I got the colors right, which were based
on a piece of grapefruit in a bowl...I did like the way the circle tag and
punches I did sort of morphed their way into the curves in the road.

Not much of a story behind this photo other that the usual, Sam is desperately
trying to catch up with his big sister who is already of the frame off
around that bend...he has his head down, a little sad, but still determined,
(with a little coaxing) and it made me think of this lyric!

Thanks for checking out my little yellow brick road! :)

fall {In Review}...Little Black Dress Kit Club - December

Monday, December 10, 2012

I did a similar page at the end of the summer and it was great to include
several photos that were important to document, but not enough to
build an entire page around.  I haven't been able to commit myself to
Project Life yet.  I love the idea, I have plenty of material, but I think I
would put undue pressure on myself to complete something that
should be fun and easy.  So, for now, seasons, or months...in Review
work great for me!

There were some great golds, yellows and neutral-ish (is that a word?)
colors in the December LBD Kit and I had so many photos from
the end of Summer/Fall that had great shades of red...
50 shades of red...heh!  They worked great together.

There are photos here which will be seen again, in a mini album for Disney,
or a Halloween page, but since not all of them will be used,
I wanted to include them here!

And...my husband was so proud of his tomato harvest that I had to include it!

'twas the night before Christmas...Elle's Studio!

Sunday, December 9, 2012

This is one of those photos that I will want to scrapbook multiple
times.  It was right after we brought Sam home form the hospital,
on Christmas Eve...almost a month before he was scheduled to arrive.
And anyone that know me, knows I am all about the schedule
and planning, and this was definitely NOT planned!

But, he wanted to come, albeit, not naturally, that is another story,
and so he arrived as our most wonderful Christmas gift...a true miracle.
And Sofia, like all of us, was mesmerized.  We had worried about her
being jealous or feeling slighted, especially considering his early arrival,
but she was the perfect big sister, doting, helpful and unequivocally smitten.

Although these photos were on my stack TBS (to be scrapped),
the new Elle's Studio products I got (thank you VERY much),
and the fact that I had two different sized photos already printed,
perfect for their sketch were serendipitous for their Thursday Sketch:

live inspired. Little Black Dress Kit Club - December

Sunday, December 9, 2012

I had taken a photo late one night of my craft desk just to document "my process"
Messy, bits and pieces of paper everywhere, 500 backs from pop dots,
my iPad with Pandora on it, and hopefully, if it is at night,a glass of wine.

I also had recently taken a photo pf my old watercolor travel palette,
which is really the only one I use, and used all through school and all over Europe.
It is grungy and messy, colorful and I adore it.  I hadn't used it in a
while and when I opened it, it reminded me of so many places, people,
buildings and projects...it was rejuvenating at a moment when I needed
some inspiration.

Except for a couple items this was all from the December Little Black Dress Kit Club,
which is full of inspirational papers and colorful patterns.

I think this LO might be one I keep up in my room permanently,
to remind myself to do just that, to live inspired.

FiRst Christmas SnOw...Scrapbook Circle GDT Project

Saturday, December 8, 2012

This is the second project from Scrapbook Circle's December Kit I made...posted here:  http://www.scrapbookcircle.com/2012/12/meet-decembers-guest-designer-jenni-calma

One of the things that is great in their kit this month is the color palette is not
just your traditional Christmas colors...there are lots of turquoises and aquas
and I think that color with red and kraft are just lovely together.

They also looked great with the tint of the wet mossy rocks in our backyard.
This photo was taken on Christmas Day 2010.  It had started to SNOW
on Christmas!  IN Alabama...First Christmas snow my husband or I
have ever had, and I am...ahem, well then I was only 38....so in 38 years!
And it was some of the first snow period for the kids, especially that Sam
will remember, so it was an extra special Christmas for us that year!

Scrapbook Circle Guest Designer!! (& Wishlist)

Saturday, December 8, 2012

I was surprised and so excited to be asked by Lisa to be the
Guest Designer for Scrapbook Circle for the month of December...

I just LOVE their kits...they seem to be catered just for me!

I will be doing some projects all month long but here is one that
was posted with that announcement post.  Here is the link to their post:

One of the photos from this little photo shoot I did was one of my first
Scrapbook pages, almost exactly 8 years ago...Sofia was always such
a cooperative model!  And I thought I had never seen anything cuter than
that chubby face full of dimples...I know I am her Mom and all, but come ON,
that is one gorgeous face!

All of this was made with the December Kit from Scrapbook Circle,
the white cardstock for the base and cuts I did with the Cameo.

I used my Cameo to cut a library pocket from that green polka dot paper and
used it to hold the journaling card from Elle's Studio.  Their new products just
keep getting better and better!
I'll be posting the other projects from that kit soon!
